Durbah Online Study Sessions Feedback

AsSalaamu Alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, Allah allowed us to benefit all of you with the Durbah Study Sessions. These sessions were conducted on www.wiziq.com, and each session was edited and uploaded to www.durbah.org/ilm

In order to preform this with the utmost Ihsaan, we need your support in getting us to that coveted level.

Please post your thoughts, suggestions, and critiques of the Online Study Sessions, whether it be to find a better time, an enhanced schedule to cover the material in a different format, or some creative ideas to better spread the knowledge.

Some questions to focus your thoughts:

Quote:
1. Were you able to attend all the study sessions? If not, what was the reason?

2. Were the recordings easily and quickly available?

3. What 2 things can be done to improve the Online Study Sessions.

4. Should the time be increased from the present One hour? should there be more Q/A time? Should there be more Breaks?

5. Would you prefer a CD/CD-SET with the review sessions after the exam in order to brush up?

6. What was the Impact Factor of the sessions; basically, how much did it help on a scale of 1-5, 1 being none, and 5 being Amazing.

Please also mention the study packets.

Feel free to give us whatever feedback you have; we want it so that we can improve inshaa'Allah!

If you feel more comfortable, you can send feedback directly to academics@durbah.org.

JazakumAllahu Khayran and looking forward to improve our efforts with your help.

WaSalaamu Alaikum,

Ameerah, Academics Department

No. Didn't feel like making a new account on that wizzy thing. And since the recordings were available anyway...

2. Were the recordings easily and quickly available?
Na'am

3. What 2 things can be done to improve the Online Study Sessions.
- Get the Instructor of the class to come on for a session, preferably the last. That would increase participants AND give everyone one last refresher.
- Since the recordings will be out anyway, why even have live sessions? You can have the entire SS out a day after the class is over. Every night after class the brother can go home and do a nice quality recording of the sessions as we go along. So by the Monday after the class, Tuesday the latest, the entire SS will be complete and available.

4. Should the time be increased from the present One hour? should there be more Q/A time? Should there be more Breaks?

- N/A

5. Would you prefer a CD/CD-SET with the review sessions after the exam in order to brush up?
- Do people still listen to CD's? Refer to my second answer to Question #3

N/A...but from the looks of it, it seems to be working alhamdulillah since many of the scholarships go to those who attend the SS.

Don't think this was of much help but I figured I'll start it off

Thumbs up Re: Durbah Online Study Sessions Feedback

Walaikum Assalam. Thank you for taking the time to get our feedback.
Bismillah...

Some questions to focus your thoughts:

Quote:
1. Were you able to attend all the study sessions? If not, what was the reason?

Alhamdulillah, all except one. Miss sessions only when busy with something else... but then try to listen to the recording soon after.

2. Were the recordings easily and quickly available?

Yes, Jazakum Allahu Khayr.

3. What 2 things can be done to improve the Online Study Sessions.

1) Alhamdulillah, I find the online study sessions very valuable... aside from the class material review, often additional insight about the topic and supplemental information is provided. Sometimes, students attending the sessions will also post informative links related to the discussion. The interactive nature of an online classroom setting is very beneficial, and more enlightening (sometimes even entertaining) than listening to recordings on your own later.

2) Happy with them as they are... again, I really appreciate the extra insights, so can continue enhancement of that, Insha'Allah.

4. Should the time be increased from the present One hour? should there be more Q/A time? Should there be more Breaks?

I prefer the sessions to be kept around the one hour time frame... makes attendance manageable. I think Q/A time and breaks as they are now are sufficient... giving more time for that would take away from the limited time needed to cover the material. Usually, the study session teachers stay on longer for Q/A time at the end, for whoever would like to stay for extra questions.

5. Would you prefer a CD/CD-SET with the review sessions after the exam in order to brush up?

I personally find the WiziQ recordings the most helpful if I miss a session... so you can see the discussion that takes place. But yes, if there's a Durbah class I might miss (Allahu Musta'an) , or study sessions that took place earlier which I wasn't able to attend (i.e., for PP or LOG), it would be great to have a CD-set of the review sessions, so you could listen to it when you're driving or something, and not have to go to the recording.

6. What was the Impact Factor of the sessions; basically, how much did it help on a scale of 1-5, 1 being none, and 5 being Amazing.

5 - AMAZING, Masha'Allah! Jazakum Allahu Khayr!! Sometimes, even if I'm occupied with something else at the same time as the sessions, just having the session on and taking in the information again is helpful. Often, you don't realize how much you've gained by just listening and having the information reinforced a second time, before the exam. Also, helps you review the material consistently, rather than just a cram session at the end... which happens anyway, after getting the study packages. The scheduled sessions encourage me to try to get on at the scheduled times... if I only listened to recordings, likely one would wait until near exam time, and then, too much to soak in at once.

Re: Durbah Online Study Sessions Feedback

1. Were you able to attend all the study sessions? If not, what was the reason?

I wasn't able to attend any sessions because of class and work from morning till night. I did listen to (some) of the recordings very brieflly though due to time.

2. Were the recordings easily and quickly available?

Yes, Alhumdoillah.

3. What 2 things can be done to improve the Online Study Sessions.

So far MashAllah the Study Session department is doing an amazing job. May Allah swt truly reward you all. ameen!

As for improvement, then maybe:

The quesiton and answer session should take place all the way at the end, that way the recording can be straight through without any interruptions. Or atleast when putting up the recordings, then maybe put the quesions all the way at the end?

4. Should the time be increased from the present One hour? should there be more Q/A time? Should there be more Breaks?

No I think the time is fine. (No, read question three please) It depends, if the information is really intense, then one or two more (very short) breaks should be given.

5. Would you prefer a CD/CD-SET with the review sessions after the exam in order to brush up?

YES! I loveeeeee listening to CDs. As long as the recordings are up as usual, then I think CDs are a great way to brush up on the material.

6. What was the Impact Factor of the sessions; basically, how much did it help on a scale of 1-5, 1 being none, and 5 being Amazing

5++++++ Very helpful! Jazakh Allah Kayrun!

Re: Durbah Online Study Sessions Feedback

The 1,337 reflects how many threads are in our folder, not necessarily the number of threads having to do with study sessions.

Study Sessions is shown because it's the last thread to be replied to in our folder.
