ok, i've been meaning to ask this, but... what does 'Ya ra7ileen al majd' actually mean?
I like 'Glory Awaits' and 'Blazing the path to Glory', personally. :D

ok, i've been meaning to ask this, but... what does 'Ya ra7ileen al majd' actually mean?answer from the slogan thread:
FEI [for everyone's info]
People wanted to know why I picked YA RA7ILEEN AL-MAJD! as my signature.
In times past, when you addressed a group of horse scouts or a group of horsemen inside an army as *the* Riders of that entire nation, it was an honorable title to address them by, especially in a nation such as that of the Muslim nation, where our love for horses is well established, if you read the ahaadith pertaining to them.
The only contemporary example I can give to convey the idea is, if any of you have ever watched Lord of the Rings, in the second movie, Aragorn stopped the horsemen of Rohan by addressing them as...literally yelling it out... "Riders of Rohan! What news from afar?" - or later when Eomer called upon the Rohirrim [the same horsemen] to come to battle at Helm's Deep.

Namariq your attempt at getting people to recognize your vote failed :P
But with 'ilm comes glory' is good too. Its all good.
Could someone elaborate on the glory/ilm slogan?

If a slogan needs elaboration, it's not good enough!
I like...
MAJD: GLORY AWAITS!

We should have a playoff series; give this poll one more week, and then pick the top 3/4 vote-getters to compete in the final round, where everyone only gets one vote.
or something like that.

How about: Got Majd
Glory awaits
With ilm comes glory
Sorry to nitpick, but could someone make sure these (and other slogans) are 'shariah compliant'
We should make sure we choose something that has been checked out in sha Allah. I mean for example does glory really come with ilm, would ikhlas be more appropriate? What do the Quran and hadeeth say about glory?
I just want to make sure that all the great ideas that were suggested don't inadvertently clash with proper Islamic understanding.
We are all students and here to learn in sha Allah!

I agree. I think everyone needs to be clear on what exactly 'glory' (if we use the term) actually means in an Islamically acceptable manner. :)

I'm not too sure about the slogans being Shariah compliant, however personally when I thought of 'With Ilm Come Glory', to me it means that by seeking ilm/knowledge for the sake of Allah SWT, you attain glory. Glory, according to the dictionary, means the following:
glo·ry ( P ) Pronunciation Key (http://dictionary.reference.com/help/ahd4/pronkey.html)
n. pl. glo·ries
Great honor, praise, or distinction accorded by common consent; renown.
Something conferring honor or renown.
A highly praiseworthy asset: Your wit is your crowning glory.
Adoration, praise, and thanksgiving offered in worship.
Majestic beauty and splendor; resplendence: The sun set in a blaze of glory.
The splendor and bliss of heaven; perfect happiness.
A height of achievement, enjoyment, or prosperity: ancient Rome in its greatest glory.
A halo, nimbus, or aureole. Also called gloriole.
Personally, I think honour, achievment etc. can be attained when seeking knowledge/ilm for the sake of Allah SWT. Allahu Allam
Ok, so now that everyone had AMPLE amount of time to vote (smiles) ......... we'll go ahead with the second round soon inshAllah! Keep your eyes peeled!
Wasalamu Alaikum
Majd
According to the secular Arabic dictionary (Hans Wehr):
glory, splendor, magnificence, grandeur, nobility, honor, distinction
So alhamdulillah we have an idea of the secular meaning of the
English word glory and the arabic word majd .
Now is there an Islamic Arabic dictionary we can look up?

Salam, Does glory come with Ilm or does humbleness accompany ilm?
Why not both?

You shall not reach Glory until you are connected with patience.
