Assalaamualaikum,
We've got two amaZing coordinators! It will be an awesome event Insha'Allah =)
May Allah reward you both for your time and effort. Ameen.
Bismillah..
All you MAJDIANS - TORONTONIANS (if you are from Toronto, you are by default a majdian).. Here's how you can help!
1.) Tell your family about it.. if they are usually not interested in these kinds of events, tell them cool things you learnt in class (this class or the previous one), than say "you know... Shaykh Muhammad is doing a lecture this thursday, it would be awesome if we can ALL go! :D "
2.) Mass emailing: just send the flyer to all the muslims on your list and Insha'Allah you may even get a reward for it.
3.) before you send it, write a little message saying you'd like them to come and how awesome this event will be Insha'Allah
4.) tell ANY muslim you come across in these 2 days about the event
If you want to go the extra mile (May Allah reward you for it):
Print out the flyer and..
5.) stick it on your masjid bulletin
6.) put it up in halal meat/ grocery stores across toronto
hmm.. thats all i could come up with.. add on if you think of anything.

Recorded or La Recorded?
mfarah
08-23-2005, 11:52 PM
Yeah, will this be recorded on EMAN RUSH?? Because if it is, I definitely want to catch it, insha-Allah. Also, to act as a reminder I heard Shaykh Ziaullah Khan once say that sometimes volunteers come to an event like this and are very preoccupied with this and that and spend the majority or ALL of the duration of the speech outside of the hall where it is being held. This should not be the case!! Rather volunteers should go there with the intention of actually benefiting from what is being said and purifying themselves (tazkhiyah). They do not have to actually be in the hall, but should spend some time listening to what is being said (nowadays, microphones are pretty loud, so it shouldn't be a problem hearing even outside of the hall.) This is DEFINITELY a reminder to MYSELF first before any one else, for I need to purify my own nafs before I can tell anyone else to do so, for Allah (s.w.t.) dislikes those who do not practice what they preach. May He accept our efforts, establish our hearts on his deen, and make the road back to Him easy for us. Verily, when all things perish, He will still remain.
Wasalaamu 'alaikum

br. mfarah, very good point! may Allah make our intentions sincerely for his sake. jazakallah khayr for the reminder.
as for it being recorded, i haven't heard of any plans to do that. but if it is, we'll let everyone know insha'Allah
Rather volunteers should go there with the intention of actually benefiting from what is being said and purifying themselves (tazkhiyah). jazakallah for the reminder. we tend to forget that and dont benefit from it... i'll try to remind others as well insha'Allah

And of course, we can't forget to thank Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef for coming on short notice. I remember once he said that if someone doesn't tell him a certain number of days in advance to do a khutbah, he usually doesn't agree to do it. So Jazakallah Khayrun from all of us.

Maghfirah -- root word "Maghfir" meaning helmet
wht does a helmet do?
1.) it covers the head- you can't tell who the person is; it acts as a veil
2.) it protects the person from harm
Therefore, when a person does Astaghfar properly and sincerely it..
1.) hides the sin the person has done
2.) protects the person from the harm of the sin

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) saying, "I swear by Allah that I seek Allah's Pardon and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.''
[Al-Bukhari]
SubhanAllah! If our beloved rasul (sallalahu alayhi wasallam) sought forgiveness from Allah MORE than 70 times a day, what stops you from seeking the forgiveness of your lord??

When you repent to a sin that you have committed and seriously and sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness, that bad deed is turned into a good deed!
-- your heart becomes clean!
-- life is AMAZING!
I didn't record down the ayat that Shaykh Muhammad used when telling us this, but this was one of the highlites of the lecture!
Because i didn't hear the beginning of the lecture so well, i was reading another sisters notes after it and i noticed that SubhanAllah she kept repeating this in her notes.. she repeated it like 3 times.. and underlined the good deeds part.. i found it funny at the time, but now i see how amazing this is.. it can give you an eman rush on its own.

Tawbah is the missing link in your life. It is a connection to Allah and that is what EVERYONE ultimately looks for.
CONVINCE THE GRINCH
In conflict?
You're at the wheel. You're about to tune into something tempting...
Your grinch having a face off with your better side?
They both want happiness for you
But obeying Allah brings longer lasting happiness.
Convince the grinch
Convert the grinch
Tune into winning Allah's pleasure
Tune out that other stuff

As for the Quote from the Qur'an where Allah says that those who make sincere tawbah to him, will have their bad deeds converted into good deeds, here it is:
"Save him who repenteth and believeth and doth righteous work; as for such, Allah will change their evil deeds to good deeds. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful." *Pickthal Translation
(Surat Al-Furqan, Ayat 70)
Also, The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “One who has sincerely repented of a sin is like one who has never sinned.”
Is there way of getting an audio of this lecture up? I am really anxious to hear it!
If not, GEMS will do - so keep 'em coming, insha-Allah :-).

Assalamu alaykum everyone
Since this event was sooo hyped up (and alhamduilllah, it was definitely WORTH the hype!), I felt kind of bad that the people on the forums were left hanging since we didn't start posting up the gems right away. So anyhow, jazakallah khayr to all those that did post and KEEP POSTING!
I got some gems from another sister, since I wasn't able to really take notes. Enjoy!
------------------------------------
Scenario: Hajj dilemma --> The bus breaks down, uncles start to complain and you want to make everyone feel good...BUT the more you try, the more rotten the mood of the uncles get.
Things to remember in this case:
If you want EVERYONE to be happy, you're setting yourself up for failure
Hajj is the exposure of hearts -- no matter how much makeup you have on, it all comes clean and you are left there raw and exposed
EVERYONE goes through tests, some tests are big, some are small -- the key is not the tests you go through, its how you react to it!

Conditions to make tawbah:
You must hate the action that was committed
You must make a sincere intention to not go back to the sin
Sairish
08-26-2005, 11:23 PM
Even if you don't desist from the action, still do tawbah. WHY? Because consistent tawbah eventually leads to the protection of that sin.

yes, and so there's the brother/uncle whose mood is deteriorating.. and then there's the brother/uncle whose heart is such that he's setting up lawn chairs outside the bus as he waits the 6 hours 'this is hajj, I'm so happy, I can smell zam zam in the air!'
Seeking Allah's Forgiveness reaps Worldly benefits:
'I (Nuh) said (to them)
Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily He is Oft Forgiving
He will send rain to you in abundance
And give you increase in wealth and children
And bestow on you gardens
And bestow on you rivers.'
Nuh 71:10-12

Masha'Allah that was beautiful ...really gave me an EMAN RUSH!!
May Allah make us of those who take advantage of His forgiveness and save our souls from shame and disgrace in this world and the hereafter --- verily the life of this world is but a fleeing deception.
