Emergency Fundraiser Meeting

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

All of you must be aware of the devastation that took place in Southeast Asia. InshAllah Qabeelat Majd will be holding a fundraiser Iftaar in the next week or so. InshAllah we will be holding an emergency meeting today, Monday, Oct 10th at 2:00 pm, at Masjid Dar-ut-Tawheed in Mississauga.

InshAllah we will have the North American Muslim Foundation (www.namf.ca (http://www.namf.ca/)) coordinator present there who will brief us on their relief projects.

We can use all the help that we can get inshAllah.

May Allah SWT provide the victims of this disaster with sabr and patience during these trying times. May ALlah SWT provide the deceased with His Ruhma and grant them Jannah-tul-Firdaus. May Allah SWT give us the opportunity to provide our assistance to those who need it most. Ameen.

Asalamualaikum,
Sarah do u think its good to post the help we need and the ideas we have so far here?? maybe others can either volunteer for whatever they can do OR add more ideas...

SO far we have the following:

1. Spread awareness to as many ppl about the immediate assistance required there.
2. Require callers to all gather together and ask for donations from organizations/individuals.
3. Take donation boxes into preferably stores where loads of muslims come by (desi stores, hijab/jilbab stores etc)
4. Set up a booth at the mall (this one we had probs with ... more to come from sr. nadia)
5. Stand on doors of the mall with donation boxes.
6. Get ALL MSA's execs to have a collective meeting and co-ordinate together of what can be done asap.
7. Door to door ... pass out flyer and ask for donations
8. Ask the Jumaa' Khateebs to raise money and give a khutba related to sadaqa etc.
9. Asking your local masjid imams/execs about how and what they can help out with.
10. This thursday Namf need as many volunteers to come and pack up the stuff to be shipped on friday.

Is anyone up for any of this??

The goal is to raise as much as possible this week... and get people to donate money/medical supplies rather then food and clothing. insha'Allaah

And ufcourse lets keep all the victims in our dua's. may Allaah swt make it easy upon all of them. Allahuma Ameen.
