bismillah...

3:133 Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous...

Come on my Sistas! Earn the reward of fasting continuously for a year without even fasting for such a long time!

Fast for 6 days of Shawwaal!

Now, here is the Challenge:

Worry Mr. Shaytaan!

How?
In this month of Shawwaal, if you have missed any fast, you need to make them up first and then fast for 6 days of Shawwaal.
So, by the end of Shawwaal, you will have fasted continuously not only for a year, but also will have kept your Ramadhaan spirit *ALIVE* !!! (something we all should be doing)

Do not be overwhelmed, if you have right intentions and motivation then remember, Allah will help you!
We have 28-29 daysof Shawwaal
to make-up any missed fasts and to fast extra 6 days

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::

Remember, every good act amounts to 10 hasanaat.
Hence, the reward for the fast of Ramadan is equal (at least) to 30 X 10 which adds up to 300.
Fasting for six days of Shawwaal equals to 6 X 10 which amounts to 60 hasanat.

Therefore,
300
+60
----
360
An Islamic year has approximately 360 days, therefore, 360 hasanaat
for each days.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"Allah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year."
(An-Nisai)
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::

Because it is haraam to fast on the day of Eid, you can start fasting six days of Shawwaal from the second day of Shawwaal.

So...
who is joining the race?!

Calling out names...
Raniah?
Blessed Muslimah?
Sarrah
Eman?
BintMunir?
SpringofHeaven?
Sabr or Shukr?
Anyone else???

The WINNER (the one who will finish fasting first) will get a *prize*
No...it is not a nano ipod...something less,
but remember...
The reward of finishing fasting is more satisfying & precious than getting an Ipod

hey, why don't you visit them between asr and maghrib? tell them you're fasting, and then they will throw that "Yemeni-suhoor" kinda iftaar. you'll hit 3 targets in one shot: Awesome iftaar, meeting relatives & fasting! I love ya'll for the sake of Allah and I'm loving this fasting marathon~!

Why are you apologizing to me? I'm enjoying this bashing lol. Man, the "taravee" jokes... when we were laughing it up at Nida's and you said you were leaving for "taravee" three times, but you would pop up again after five minutes... I loved seeing that double take you did : D alhamdulillah

Well the visit would count as travelling, so as appealing as the "Yemeni-suhoor" thing sounds, its just not possible.

But my thoughts are on fasting. Does that count? http://forums.almaghrib.org/images/icons/icon11.gif

Alhamdulilah, I was done with my 4th fast...still have a long way to go though...I am trying to follow the fasting of Dawud ('alayhi salam)...slowly but insha'Allah...surely.

By the way, if anyone is done fasting...email me at mariam underscore raza at yahoo dot com. DO NOT post here.

I will announce the winner at the end of Shawwal...because I am afraid that if we announce the winner in the middle, Shaytaan might whisper into other people's ear and they would stop fasting...so email me only!

We will keep the suspense going until the end of Shawwal :D

For brothers and sisters-
The white days have come upon us for the month of Shawwal.

Insha'allah they will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week--Nov. 15th, 16th, and 17th. (the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each Islamic month)

It is encouraged that you fast these days.

Fasting is something which is just for Allaah, and Allaah will give multiple rewards without measure for it. The hadeeth says: “[Allaah says:] Fasting is Mine and it is I Who give reward for it.” (Al-Bukhaari, Fath, no. 1904)

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: My close friend [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] advised me to do three things which I will not give up until I die: fasting three days of each month, praying Duha and going to sleep after Witr.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to me: “It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, because for every good deed you will have (the reward of) ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1874); Muslim (1159).

JazakAllah Khair for the reminder Raniah.

The rest of you sisters... you better be worried

Some talk smack and some ACT ... : D (sidelines: OoOoOooO)

(wait, was I just talking smack right now? : P)

Love you sisters for the sake of Allah : )

Assalamu Alaykum....

I still didn't get any emails... whats wrong... are you all too scared to lose ;)

Subhan Allah... the white days.. that means we are almost at the midpoint of Shawwal!!! Only half a month left to finish your fasting!!!!

I miss you all so much. Part of me wishes I was back there competing with you all.. but alhumdulilah.. this opportunity doesn't come along too often.. and maybe when I get back I will compete with you guys in ARABIC :))) Please make duaa for us that we get beyond the maximum benefit out of Egypt and out of this trip!

And btw.. I would just like to say.. any one of you who has the opportunity.. come to study overseas.. you will see a whole another world. It's true that over here you don't see Dawah and active MSA programs and stuff like that.. but what you do see makes you feel so much closer to the stories we read about about the Sahabas and all. Children here, at such young ages, are focused on Islam. And focused here has a whole another meaning too. Over there focused means that they know they are Muslim and they act more Muslim than not. Over here.. a focused child has memorized LARGE portions of the Quran.. their life is studying Islam and the Quran.. their manners are better than the manners of adults there.. its just.. subhan Allah. Like of course not the kids on the streets.. but we have met families here whose kids are just unreal subhan Allah.

One of my friends... mashallah la quwata illah billah.. may Allah swt protect their family... her 2 children, one at 10 years old has half the quran memorized and by next year she will complete it.. and the other is 7 and he has 1/4 memorized and will be done in 2 years inshalllah... and they both go to al-Azhar, the private section.. where the children have to be a hafidh, learn usul al hadith, usul al-fiqh, and all this stuff to graduate from the HIGH SCHOOL only!! And learn so much other stuff. These two children, mashallah.. used to go to taraweeh every day in the near masjid (their parents went to a masjid that had reaaaaal long taraweeh.. but they had school so they went to the "short" one which was 1.5 hours.. they prayed the whole thing.. and on the weekends.. went with their parents to the longer ones and prayed all night there. AND.. they understand most of what is being read in the Quran.. at 7 and 10 years old. Where do you find that over there??

Like honestly, once you see this.. you realize that there is NO WAY you can get the knowledge there that you can in the Muslim world.

There's good in both places of course.. I just mean its a whole different world that you should experience if you've got the means.

Wassalamu Alaykum.

Ok, so I'm not assuming or anything but.. c'mon now. It's right there. She's either talking about the girl, the gift... or both.

Ladies it is time we take on a much greater challenge! Keeping up with the fasting through out the year!

I say we have three options:

1-Mondays and Thursdays
2-The three white days EACH month (when possible)
3-Mondays or Thursdays

Rules:
Pick your option and stick with it until NEXT Ramadan

Who is ready to take this to the next level?

Mariam Raza
12-04-2005, 05:07 PM
In sha 'Allah- Count me in. 3 white days (or at least 3 days/month if can't do them)

Any rules, Sarrah? Please clarify, b4 I get disqualified ;)

sbuageila]I say we have three options:

1-Mondays and Thursdays[/size]
2-The three white days EACH month (when possible)
3-Mondays or Thursdays

Well, we sort of have a few other options too...

if you want to get technical

4. Monday's and Thursdays AND the 3 white days
5. Monday's or Thursdays AND the 3 white days
6. (Monday's and Thursdays) and (the 3 white days) and (special days - like 3ashoora, etc)
7. The fast of Dawood (alayhis salaam)

and at this point, Raniah's probably shaking her head thinking "this is such an ala post." You know, I think my programing classes are getting to me - but hey at least I didn't write this in pseudocode :D

I just want to remind some girls, so that they know what they're up against, those summer nights on Monday and Thursday can get very very long... are you ready?

I'll choose the one I usually do in shaa Allah - or am I supposed to choose one a level higher since we're trying to up the ante?

and Raniah,
And Yes, Ala I knew before.... but I had good reason to know....try figuring that one out ;)What on Earth is that supposed to mean? lol

Remember Mu'adh bin Jabal (From Hok class)?

This what he used to say when he was about to die:
"Welcome O Death, Welcome. A visitor has come after a long absence. O Lord, You know that I did not desire the world and to prolong my stay in it. I only wanted to live in this world so that I could pray in long winter nights and fast during long summer days. O Lord, accept my soul with goodness as you would accept a believing soul..."

and Raniah,

What on Earth is that supposed to mean? lolCommon, u should be able to figure it out, it's a pseudocode :D
