Assalamu 'Alaykum

This really is one of the coolest classes ever... so let's get the gems started insha'Allah

~ Abdullah Ibn Zubayr (ra) was known for 3 things:

1) Worship (his ibadah)
2) Education (he was one of the most knowledgeble companions)
3) Military Conditioning (his body was in great shape)

or as someone from another qabeelah interepreted it as: "body (military conditioning), mind (education) and soul (worship)"

How come Az-Zubayr (ra), the father of Abdullah ibn Az-Zubayr, become so courageous?

When he was younger, his mom, Safiya, used to take him out at night and leave him in the open desert... when he would cry, she would beat him. If he cried again, she would beat him again and say "don't cry"

Other mothers would tell Az-Zubayr (ra)'s mother that this is not how a loving mother hits her child. She would reply: "I'm hitting him so that he becomes courgeous, has no fear, destroys the armies and brings back the bootie"

And when you hear about the battle of Yarmuk, you see that he really did get the characteristics that his mother had wanted him to get.

When Prophet s.a.w. got his first revelation, Khadija r.a. said, "By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your Kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones." Then once when the Mushrikeen wanted to expel Abu Bakr r.a. from Makka Prophet s.a.w. said the same thing about him.

Abu Bakr Siddeeq r.a. had the same characteristics as the Prophet s.a.w.

If possibility of reward increases then the risk of punishment may also increase.

It's so simple: Isn't it time you became a muslim?

Ears are the gateway to the heart

Kufaar are motivated by music, muslims are motivated by Quran.

The sahaba (ra) didn't run the fastest; they ran the farthest.

Trying is for losers, doing is for wnners :D

Dawa tip: Encourage!

when people instruct others about leadership, think; are they really leaders themselves?

Action, not talk, is the blue print for everything.

*When kids do something wrong, ask them "Why did you do that?" not "WHY DID YOU DO THAT!!" sometimes they have legit reasons.

*If you ever see someone who's really amazing, look at their parents. Build the characteristics in yourself that you want to see your kids have. If you want them to memorize the Quraan, you have to do it too.

*How did Bilal (RA) stand the torture? "I tasted torture and I tasted the sweetness of Eeman and at the time of torture, the sweetness of Eeman took over and I could no longer feel the pain."

*Come closer to the one who's giving you the exam

* Too much on the page means the person doesn't know what theyre talking about you must be ON TARGET* this is sooo true! often times when writing tests in school, if you don't know the anwser to the question, most people just go on and on and hope that the teacher will give them a mark when really they have no clue as to what they are saying.

*Leadership GEM: If you don't know how to get to the destination, you should be in the passenger seat

* Umar (RA) LOVED people to critisize him, and we should appreciate this too.

*Do NOT delay honesty. The longer you wait, the higher the fall is going to be.

*"There is no harm in my feet getting dirty for the sake of Allah (swt) - Abu Bakr (RA).

*Someone who doesn't have something, cannot give it to anyone else. - this is deep.

*Half the battle is the language that you use* I WILL get this lab done which is due tomorrow, tonight :)

* When we become stressed (over silly issues too), we're not thanking Allah (swt) enough

*"Allah is testing you with me, and me with you" -Umar (RA)

*"Close your eyes on dunya and busy your heart with other things" - Umar (RA).

And once again: *Desire of love can only be fullfilled with the love of Allah*

*Don't let the dunya destroy you as it did with other people

* "Victory comes to those who are just a little more patient than the other army"

Assalamu alaikum,

Here are a few extra gems that were derived from HOK but generalized:

1) The “Jennah express” is waiting for it’s passengers to come aboard. So don’t forget your bus fair (the currency being in deeds)

2) Death will hit us at any moment, are you ready for the collision?

3) Patience is the difference between winners and losers…which category do you fit in?

4) Wasted time is like missing a question on your exam, only this exam is the exam of your life

5) A second can’t wait a minute and a death date can’t wait a second

inshaAllah there is only khair in this amen….

Heres an awesome gem that sheikh mentioned in Ottawa but I did not hear him mentioning it in Toronto.

After Khalid b. Waleed's decision to "put out the lamps" and Malik b. Nuwaiyrah dying, Umar was strongly of the opinion to take him off leadership, to which Abu Bakr said:

"Whoever tells story of Umar tells story of justice"

"When Umar became Muslim it was a conquest"

Whoever worshipped Ramadan, Ramadan has gone. And whoever worshipped Allah, he is the everlasting Hayun laa yamut

_Sh. Muhammed Alshareef

The greatest Imam/leader doesn’t have to recite the quraan like the Qurra’aa

The prophet’s (s.a.w) last words were:” Allahuma firafiqil’ a3laa”

And the last public place he was seen in was “Masjid alnabawi”

He took off the sheets from his heavenly face and kissed his blessed forehead, then he said

“ tibta hayaan wamayitan”

_ Abu Baker

As soon as he heard the prophet (s.a.w) say: “ Walakiin khalilyallah” his eyes were filled with precious tears. Asadeeq Abu Baker was the one and only who understood that the prophet (s.a.w) was soon to die.

Sa'ad bin abi waqass horse Al3alqa’a was honored to take Abu mihjan althaqafy from his chains to the shattering blood of the enemy.

A small amount of Patience can lead to ultimate victory.

Say why as a Question? Not an Expression!

Half of the battle is the language that’s used by the leaders.

He turned his back to Yazdajar and left the Persian Kingdome with a smile on his face. He started to dust off the sand on his head and said with a laugh: “they just gave us the beginning of their land!!!”

_ 3aasim bin Omar.

The dominant difference between the Muslims of today and the Muslims that existed before, is that they were always OPTIMISTIC!

So why can’t we follow their footsteps?

There are essentially two types of leaders. One that gets the work done, but in the process gets everyone working with him to hate him and eventually quit! The other type is the kind who is all huggy/kissy with everyone and doesn't get any work done! - a leader should try.....no wait.. not try...but SHOULD take the middle path between these two types.

That shows us how blood was very common between them. Also their gifted intelligence to know how valuable and respectful the prophet's (s.a.w) blood is.

what does wa muthanna mean?
It was in the battle of Qassidiyyah where Sa 3ad ibn Waqas was injured. He and his wife got into an argument and she started to call him a coward and why he couldn't fight and this and that. Sa 3ad ibn Waqas was defending himself that he could not because he was injured. His wife then called out, "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MUTHAAAAAAANNNNNNNAAAAAAAA????" Which means.... Where is Muthanna??? which was..... HER PREVIOUS husband before he died! An example of a REAL man!!! What man would like to hear his wife call out someone elses name! could you imagine!!! Sa 3ad without a doubt got back onto the battle field...

And that is the story behind "WAAA MUTHANNA"...:)

He did not join the battle and remained in his tent doing continuous dua. However, his boils were cured for the conquest of Madain. Also there is a lesson in that some people do have legitimate reasons, and after all Sa'ad b. Abi Waqas was one of the 10 promised paradise while they were alive, and not only did he participate in battles with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he was the ONLY person to whom the Prophet said, "may my mother and father be sacrificed for you."

SubhanAllah...it's about time the sisters stopped using femininity as an excuse not to do those extraordinary things we only think men can do. Umm Haram RACED to join the army in the conquest of Cyprus.

this obviously doesn't include Majd sisters *rolls eyes*

When decisions fail, before going forward, ask yourself:
Am I doing it for my EGO or am I doing it for the TRUTH?

"Critics are one legged people that teach others how to run"

Complaining is the easiest thing in the world. When you find others complaining, ask them: "If you were given the responsibility, would YOU do it?"

Actually, that's in context of the classroom mala3 (leader). Wallahu 'alim.

It's on Fiqh of Da'wah, explained in somewhat detail there, as well.

When someone asks you why you do things such as pray, fast, wear hijaab/beard etc., all you gotta say is ...

"CUZ ALLAH SWT AND HIS MESSENGER COMMANDED IT!!!" - That's it!!! No need to justify your actions or go into lenthy explanations.
