WEBSITE revival

Alright our website is very pretty, but there is not much activity on it. I've only gone there twice. Once just to see it, and again for the newsletter. Time to pick it up and bring life to MAJD.ALMAGHRIB.CA!!

- What can we put on it to keep people coming back to it?

- What services can we offer?

- How can we increase hits?

- What can we do to differentiate from other Qabaa'il?


1. Fun survey's and quizzes
Some kind of point and personality assessment. People love this stuff. It could be fun.

2. Consistent new content and articles
Our 4 month newsletter is nice, but what else? Upcoming events in Toronto or something. Commentary, or consistent columns.

3. Ashiq's computer games for download

4. A youth advice q/a
Have responses from both a brother & sister to get 2 perspectives.

5. Group diary/ blog, a section that would be especially active around class time. Basically, it could be an extended personal reflection about a gem that you heard in class, and it related to you on a deeper level (and so you'd like to share it).

JazakAllah Khairn Br. Yasser for starting this thread! It was definitely overdue. I agree our website is 'pretty' however it needs some changes inshALlah in order to increase activity and user visits.

Let's start of with the LOGO? How does everyone feel about the flower! :) It's pretty, no? :)

what about we build on that and get this kind of a picture of horse hoofs (i.e. no heads, just the bottom part of the horse) running full speed and gathering this cloud of dust with "Qabeelat Majd" in the smoke (ohhh hows that for a suggestion :) ) The first five ayahs of Surah Al-Adiyat were the inspiration behind this logo:

100:1 By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
100:2 And strike sparks of fire,
100:3 And push home the charge in the morning
100:4 And raise the dust in clouds the while,
100:5 And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-

oh well, guess we'll have to give him another one with the new logo... :)

Hey, i don mind our logo now...but then i hope it changes tothe better

I think we should add some nice Majd nasheeds ( if that works) and other appropiate nasheeds (like the ones that r played in class)

Also having Majd competiton days...

where we have a specific day where the whole Qabeelah comes online and we have someone annouce questions (head) about our previous classes (Boc, Cos, Hok) and it could be one day Brothers vs Sisters and another day we have Intra Qabeelah (banuz vs each other?)

basically, something like Jeopardy?

I think that'll be super Fun
not only would it be a revision for everything we took but ppl would be studying and reviewing before they enter the competition ( thats if they don want their team to lose)

I just wanted to say that the Majd website definately needs more flash! Durbah's website was awesome! I played the intro over like five times, and then I was really interested in the site itself. Majd needs something like that, either a video intro like Durbah's or something else It shouldn't be something long, just short, sweet, and 'wowable.' :D. and the nasheeds are a must! Durbah's website is lively, and the nasheeds are really part of that. It's nice to have calm backround nasheeds playing while oter windows are open. After checking Durbah's website, I went to majd's and I'm just like 'wow! PLAIN!' I actually couldn't even stay on the majd website for that long - it bored me :( !

When I was promoting Conquest, there was no specific one web page I could turn ppl to that gives an overview of the course and the toronto specific contact info.
So I would end up giving them the ad on torontomuslims website. It had the toronto contact info and course info. Now shouldn't that be what a qabeelah website is for?
And the homepage should show new links esp. when the courses are up, esp. details of location and directions etc

Plus there should be an easily accessible link, not just to the forums, but directly to Qabeelat majd's folder.

Yah this is exactly one of the reforms on my hitlist! You come to the site and BOOM, upcoming events is right there.

I am compiling all the ideas into a short 'blueprint' and will post it up for feedback. Then insha'Allah we will reveal the updates over 2 or 3 phases.

Cool, but I wasn't able to see it properly. :( But I think that may be if you tweak it a little bit, it could be something AWESOME! Btw sis, take your time. :D. Also, this one is original, while the old one looks like something taken directly out of warcraft. if anything, I think something like this should be the logo. Also the old one was very fight-like, and I didn't think it was all that glory-ish. But if there was dust blowing from behind the horses' hooves in this one, and muslimah_soldier made it all magestic and such, then this one would be very cool, I think.

keep in mind that the dust can also be any colour to match with our logo colours (if we have official colours....ahem, we tooooootally should!!! - Fiqh Ad-Dawa CD2!!)

I think you're aiming for the "leaving you in our dust" motif with this image. But for a website, I'd think you'd want to make an image that is appealing to people. When I look at this, I simply see the rear ends of horses ... not a pretty sight ;)

You may be able to keep the horses leaving people in their dust ... think of other "angles" you can use inshaa' Allah ... :)

InshaAllah this helps. For the logo, be creative, no holds bar. Remember its a symbol that represents you.

Though I love the whole Stallion thing, I personally think that our Logo should be simple and classy. Something we can easily put on our Majd Merchandise. Like a funky, calligraphic letter "M" or something that symbolizes what Majd is all about.
