First off.. in all truth and honestly, they are all good names; masha'Allah, but we can only choose one. I like "Quwaa" b/c it sounds "cool," and I like what it stands for.. plus there's my hidden agenda of already having our webpage worked out in my mind, and Quwaa fits perfectly. lol :) But I recently concidered "Ribat."
Prophet Muhammad said, 'Shall I tell you about actions with which Allah forgives sins and raises a persons rank? Performing ablution in unfavourable conditions, the man's steps he takes to the mosque and is awaiting prayer after prayer, for this is the ribat, this is the ribat, this is the ribat.'
Prophet Muhammad said, 'A day of Ribat in the path of God, is better
than this life and all that is in it'
So who can say they don't want this? But is it the best name for a qabeelah? Allahu-Alim. Then you have the other names of Noor, Haqq, Iqra... well maybe not Iqra. LOL! Doesn't that mean "read?" Or am I confusing it with something else? Needless to say, there was some tough competition, but I must stand by my favorite.. Banu Cool Khalil. lol j/k Banu Quwaa has my vote. Allahu-Alim why.. maybe I'm just remembering my old He-Man action figures when he would say, "I have the power," then transform his dog into like a tricerotops or something. Cool stuff. lol Salaamz
Khalil.
P.S.: My previous post was not meant to be offensive. So I apologize if it was.

as salam `alykum wa raHmat ALLAHi wa barakatuhu wa nuruhu !
FINALLY!! ALMAGHRIB IN SOCAL !!! ALLAHU AKBAR !!!!!!!!
alHamdollilah !! can you please send out an email with the conference call information for the volunteers??
and insha'Allah please put me down for the "serious volunteers" list...

voting afterthought - doesn't banu an-noor, banu al haqq, etc mean sons of Allah's (swt) name?? (similiar to banu israel meaning children of israel) shouldn't we remove those names from the choices?
"The Jews say Ezra is the son of Allah, while the Christians (who follow Paul) say the Messiah is the son of Allah. Such are their assertions, by which they imitate those who disbelieved before. Allah fights them! How perverted are they!" (Qur'an 9:30)
clarification needed please...

I was going to change the name to Banu Noor and Banu Haqq if those names won. JAZAKA ALLAH KHAIR, for your concern. It is a very valid point.

not so fast, as the rules state the top three will be picked then voted on during this weeks conference calls, INSHA ALLAH. Banu haqq and Banu Ribat are tied. Since sister Sawila entered both of the entries she will have to choose which one she wishs to enter in the next round. If she is not able to make the call tomorrow night or does not state her choice here on the forums, then I, as the Amir, will make have to choose for her.
By the way we will be Banu, not qabeelat, but INSHA ALLAH soon.
