As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,
Tonight I'll insha'Allah meet with the shura to discuss improvements we can make to our class an even better learning experience for everyone involved.
If there were any issues you saw that you think need to be addressed, please post it here, but remember, we want constructive criticism :D

Even though it was easier to read the slides with the seating arrangement, I still felt slightly uncomfortable that the bros were next to us. But I don't know if much can be done about that, so...
Maybe have some small snacks, like the chex mix on Saturday.
But yeah, overall everything was great, Alhumdulillah

If we could have a little more space between the tables, it would be easier for the brothes and sisters to get in and out of the rows.
Some color markers to brighten-up the GEM BAAARD, it looks kinda dull without color.

Siraaj,
How abt tea/coffee? not asking for myself - some brothers felt they needed tea/coffee badly during the breaks.

Coffee pleeeeeaaaaasssseeee....or maybe we could just request the hotel kitchen to keep the beverage stall open at the time we're there.......it was sooooo hard to find a place for coffee in the 10 minutes....
jazakumallahukhairen for asking....and for all the organization and patience.

i think there was a coffee place (it smelled a lot like smoke) right next to the room we were in. But the coffee was sorta expensive (so I heard).

The traffic flow could be regulated a bit more, in my opinion.
For instance, a sign that says "Brothers" and a sign for the sisters could be posted at thier respective enterance/exit doors. That would eliminate some confusion, IA.

Usually in jersey there are cases of granola bars along with bananas and oranges for ppl to grap during the breaks. It gives u enough of a sugar rush to keep going and isnt as unhealthy as candy. We also used to have something to drink along with it.
Also it would be alot easier if someone can order food before-hand, like 150 cheeseburgers from the halal KFC for those who cannot or do not want to leave for lunch. This can be done by getting a list of ppl who want sandwiches in the morning and u can even get the money from them then...
But then again chicago can never be like jersey... haha j/k

I know many announcements were made, but there were still so many brothers standing around the sisters entrance. I don't think the messages are getting through to people so maybe one brother can stand by there during break times and other times where there is heavy "traffic" and tell them to move please :)

is there Anything else you wanna add to your list? :D
pizza
candy? donuts? sweets?
We're trying to stay awake here, not feel logy after a brief sugar rush.
Same thing with pizza, eating anything heavy followed by long periods of sitting = naptime.
I found this out the hard way on saturday. We thought going to the lunch buffet at shahi nehari would be a good idea, as the buffet has ready-made food and it would be the fastest. Boy, did I feel sleepy with all that food just sitting in my stomach. One of the bros fell asleep in the car on the way back to the hotel, let alone the class. :)

Assalam 'Alaykum
A bigger room might be more suitable for us. Also it might be a good idea to put speakers in the back of the room as well as the front so that those in the back can hear well. The sunlight from the room we were in also made it hard to see the screen, so we might want a place with no windows. It would also be good if Qadhi was higher up so we could see him better. More spaces in between the tables. A lot of people were cramped. And make sure to work on those gliches.
Also I think it might be a good idea to extend the break to 15 minutes if that is possible. I know that I had a hard time getting back in time. Other than that everthing was great and I am looking forward to this weekend.

Just a suggestion...nothing major..
Change the word "baard" (on the gem boards) to a real word like bard or something of that nature. Baard doesn't fit the AlMaghrib envirnoment. :D

NO, be a team player :DI will...if you prove that the word exists in the English language and provide a definition for it. :D
Besides, 'Baard' is not maintaining the learning atmosphere...Its not funny either.
Anyways, its not a big deal...

We also used to have something to drink along with it.They did that in Ottawa too and I agree, it is the perfect food choice. Remember variety. If you have some of the ch.chip ones they will be the first to go. Little yoghurts are great too.
For your sweet tooth, near the end of the day, pull out the baked goods and have a bake sale. This is a real income earner.
Ok, you got me wondering, baard is definately not a word in English, but is it one in Arabic? Am I missing something? LOL ,I think I got it, the Gem Board must be called a Gem Baard. Is that it? It might be spelled that way if you said it like a Scottsman!

whoa whoa whoa.
It's an unique taste of humour that almost all of Qabeelat Wasat has - it's an inside joke that has become huge. If you don't think its funny, say it out loud*.
*Make sure you are pronouncing with a desi uncle accent.
boys=byes
problem = praahblem
board = baard
see? funny.

Anyways, relax a little bit if you can…
When I first saw the board…I thought someone had misspelled the word…
My 2nd thought: nobody was correcting it b/c they didn’t want to hurt the feelings of the person who had written it…
Another thought: ppl were just trying to be funny…
When I saw the improvements thread, I assumed it wouldn’t be a catastrophe if I leisurely mentioned it here, as ‘baard’ seemed a bit odd.

see? funny.Although, the thought of desi/arab accent crossed my mind, I didn’t expect it to be an inspiration (as I haven’t heard anyone pronounce baard, whatever their accent).
Now that you have confirmed my doubts…you added another reason for ‘baard’ to not be funny… Though it may be unintentional, this involves hurting the desi uncle’s feelings…don’t u think?

I don't think it's that much of an issue. it was just done for the bros to feel comfortable with the gem board as everyone is new the the al maghrib way of doing things. If you feel it is a problem then we'll discuss it with the Wasat baaard of organizers.

in fact - in direct contradiction to your suggestion, they laugh when we mention words like that and say its funny. its all in good fun, no one is intentionally...or unintentionally for that matter..trying to hurt someones feelings.
Insha Allah no hard feelings towards or from anyone.
