Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
For the record ... only 6 of the 77 students currently registered for Durbah's next seminar (The Code of Scholars) are from NY. But, be that as it may, you still appear to be far ahead of LA. Much talk, little to show for it. Not exactly what I was expecting, Mr. Zikria. ;)

Now, if it were my first class, you better believe our team would put the pedal to the metal during the last third of the night these last ten nights of Ramadan, making sure to ask, beg, and plead for the biggest class of all. Who's got the heart?

I'll let you in on a little secret, but please don't depend on this. Normally, for AlMaghrib classes, you see this large number of people who sign up, but then a lot of them who signed up simply don't show for whatever reason, so you look at those numbers, and you say, hmmmm, if all I got signed is 126 or 105, is that the maximum number of people who would show if the class was this weekend?
That's normally.
In Chicago, we had 170 people signed for our first class, yet 225 had officially signed on to be a part of the class and take part in the festivities by the end. So rather than dropping, our numbers went waaaaay up. And that trend has continued throughout our last two classes as well.
So what do registration numbers really tell you? Not a whole lot. Some people sign up on the last day. Some people would prefer to simply register onsite because they don't trust the online system. Others will sign on and keep themselves tentative by not paying. And still others think that in order to be registered, they have to first pay online, so they don't register online.
What I tend to do is look at the numbers and say to myself, this is what is coming, and this is not enough for Chicago. CHICAGO WANTS MORE! MORE! MONSTER QABEELAH WILL SMASH!
You get the point - use the numbers to motivate you to do more, but don't take it as a hard and fast indicator of what is coming, either positively or negatively.

:)I'm lovin it....If it's one thing that NY does is talk junk...we make it a language...And I (and everyone else I'm sure) didn't even know Majd had a record...what, is a record for you guys hitting triple digits??

Heh, to get to Chicago, you're gonna have to first break through Majd's 143 record After that, you have a long way to go to 225 kids
That's a lot of pressure - living up to Chicago's standards. Yeah, it is indeed. Right about now, I figure you guys are reeeeally scared. Sure, talk on the internet's gettin' feisty, but in the cold of the night, when you lay your head on that pillow to hopefully dream happy dreams, there's an anxiety in the pit of your stomach, gnawing at your gut and playing with your mind, and you keep wondering, will all these people who registered really show - are they going to be there like they said they would? Or are they going to bail at the last second?
And what am I doing to make sure they don't? Sure, I made a lotta du'aa since Allah controls the hearts, but how oh how have I tied my camel? Have I done enough? Or am I taking it for granted that I've already done a lot since the promo went off well
You might be wondering, was that what Siraaj was thinking when LOG came down? How did they pull of 225 for LOG? Heh heh, I was so blown out and burnt out from the promo, I have to chalk it straight up to du'aa and an awesome crew of supporters doing the work. I was dead on my feet and was too tired to feel anxious. That came with later classes
But enough about the triumphs and tragedies of yesteryear - now is the time of NY and LA, with all eyes focused on the two of you. All eyes focused on the two of you because of big brother Wasat's performance. So are you guys gonna be a bunch of BUS drivers or BUSters? We'll soon find out =)

This can be both good and bad - you can have people who came for the free night take off and not show up after that.
OR!
You can have people who loved the class so much the first weekend, they raved about it to family and friends and got people to come around for the second weekend. We had a little bit of both happen for our opening class ;)

NY - Mucho props to all of you for the tremendous turnout (a bit more than 175, if the rumour mill speaks truly ;) ).
if that's the case, well, then you're not clear to drive in Chicago just yet, but don't worry, insha'allah, there will be future competitions and you can try to roll with us then.
Til then, Chicago rules, NY DROOLS :D
Siraaj
PS - And, may Allah (SWT) accept from you all your work and effort - I'm sure it's been a long year (or two) getting AlMaghrib, and I remember at the Chicago promo talking to you guys about it before you took off. Take a moment to breath in the victory, and then get ready for the next class.

jazakAllah akhee for your duaat. Alhamdullilah the competition really pushed us as a new qabeelah (inshaAllah). May Allah accept all the efforts of everyone who attended this course.

Uncle Siraaj,
Although I believe that our numbers were higher than 175 and more realistically hovering around the 200 mark, it seems that we did not crack that record that city in that state 'over there' had set.
Alhamdullilah no complaints...this class was awesome, the volunteers were AMAZING, and the sheikh and attendants were happy.
That being said...
Love notes anyone??
February...vroom vroom....I'm getting my license ;).

Masha'Allah, Tayybah had more than 175 people show up for their first seminar. And unfortunately Banu Haq did not get the expected turnout because of the last minute changes, Qadr Allah.
