Is there a reason why one would intentionally repeat certain verses during salah? ... This one Imam does it every time, usually repeating the same verse, but sometimes more than one ... I never understood why he's the only one that does this ...?

kinda reminds me of that sahabi who i guess was an imam and whenever leading he would (after alfatiha of course) begin with sorat alikhlas and then read another sorah. when he was complained about to the rasool, the sahabi's reply was that he loved sorat alikhlas so much. and thus the rasool explained that it would be the reason for him entering jannah. wallahu ta3ala a3lam. (u can prolly look up the story online..that's just very minimal of what i remember!)

I think the brother is talking about reating one verse a few times whiel reciting a sura, before moving forward witht he sura....
for example....surat al ikhallas, the imaam would say
qul hu Allahu Ahad
Allahus Samad
Lam Yalid wa lam Yulad
Lam Yalid wa lam Yulad
Lam Yalid Wa lam Yulad
Wa lam qullahu kufwan Ahad
i hope thats what you are referring to dear brother???
I have noticed this too, i dotn knwo if thsi is the sunnah or not....Maybe shaykhc an clarify regarding this, insha'Allah

assalamu alaikum..
sorry..i'm prolly mistaken..but again..isn't it kinda the same thing. i mean...the imam is trying to "live" the verse!
like..a lot of times when people read alfatiha....they repeat "iyyaka na3budu waiyakka nasta3een" i guess i wouldn't say to stress the importance...as the whole quran is important..but maybe to actually realize and believe in what one is reciting...
anyways..that's just my understanding..if its sunnah or not...insh'a Allah someone can clarify that!
wassalam

I have noticed it, I have a recitation by a young brother, Muhammad Mubarak? or something from Kuwait I've been told, of surah Ar Rahman in Salah, and he repeats verses, like to emphesise them I think, because you can hear his voice getting louder, he repeats, Sanufrughu Lakum Ayyuha AthThawalan three times or so.
I have a booklet which I think touches on this, its a q and a with Shaykh Bin Baaz.
