Asalamualaikum,
I had a question regarding how to give zakat directly to the people. In Rizq we learned if a person is in debt and say it was not halal type but they repented and now are trying to get out of it..then we can give zakat to them. Is this valid?
Also, if say a family is struggling with finances a LOT and they have very little or no income, sadaqa is obviously recommended to people like that. BUT if say you want to also give them zakat, should you also specify and tell them that it is zakat your giving to them?
I was told by and older sister that its not good to specify and that one should just give it. But i thought, wasnt it a part of condition when giving zakat in those circumstances...that you specify it...so that the person is aware they are getting zakat and are serious in their needs etc?
I would really appreciate it if Shaykh Muhammad AlSharif can please clarify this for me. Jazakumullaah kheirun.
