Why did Prophet S.A.W sometimes did not mention 'why' in certain rules? [Archive]

Assalamualaikum,

I remember Sh. Yasir mentioned about this, but I can not recall the reasons of why sometimes the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) did not indicate the reason behind the rules that he mentioned.

Can someone please recall it for me?

I have in my notes:

Part I, Ch 1
the authority among the Sahabah was clear (the Prophet [sws]) so the usool was not really relevant. On the other hand, today we have no clear authority so we should make use of Usool to verify fatawa.

Part I, Ch 3
This was a very simple time period because the source of law was from a reliable source (the messenger sws). There was no need to write it down because it was immediately accepted. Everything was from a divine revelation. The usool was embedded in the revelation and the hadith.
