View Full Version : Slow Digesting Foods for Suhoor?
Assalamu 3alaikum
Sheikh Muhammad
What is the ruling on eating or drinking slow digesting foods at the time of suhoor, such that you finish eating the food before fajr, but it doesn't finish digesting completely for 6 hours.
For example certain types of protein (micellar casein) will take upto 8 hours to digest. So suppose you have a protein shake at suhoor time, but the protein is being slowly digested for upto 8 hours after that, is this permissible?
Jazaak Allah Khair
I have another question related to proteins...
The issue of the casein (or whey) protein being halal depending on the enzyme used. Can the same reasoning be used in the article Sh Qadhi wrote about Doritos?

Jazaak Allah Khair"O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble..." (Surah al Ma'idah, verse 101)
As posted in IslamOnline...
...Sometimes unnecessary questions lead to constraints and rigidity. It is because of this that when a man commented on the Prophet's statement that pilgrimage is an obligation by asking, "Is it required every year?", the Prophet answered him by saying: "If I am to say yes, it would have become an obligation every year and you would have never be able to fulfill it, so don't ask me for more details than those I give you." (Muslim)
The Prophet was trying to teach him not to ask unnecessary questions that are going to cause more hardship and create more "rules".
