Conference Call Notes

In order to keep the momentum going, here are my abbreviated notes
from the conference call of what HQ recommended we should do next:

1. Make one master email list
2. Establish a website (which we have already done)
3. Advertising on the forums - as many people on the forums as
possible
4. Establish a Timeline (thread on the forums for hayl) - 6 month plan
5. Post in the banu noor forum folder
We should all read this thread: http://forums.almaghrib.org/showthread.php?t=21486
Which discusses the steps that Hayl went through to bring back
AlMaghrib. It also has links to the timeline and the official bid
proposal (Insha'Allah I will try to upload them as file to our
group).

In addition to that, I think we should discuss:
1. Advertising strategies - we should profile the ways and means that
the most successful Qabaail advertise and then copy it
2. Organizational structure - do we need to have people fulfilling
specific positions? ie webmaster, pr, etc, etc... I think it is
necessary so that people have roles they can focus on and specialize
in. I realize that at this point it is probably a few people
fulfilling all of the roles, but that can be draining. Perhaps we
should brainstorm the necessary roles that need to be filled
3. An interesting project that we can work on collectively - sometimes
having a common goal to work on helps build cohesiveness

Now is a good time to put some solid work in while we are on break
from classes, etc. Lets get to work, brothers and sisters!!

1) Gather all of the volunteers and combine every single Muslim e-mail contact that you have, make one big master e-mail list.
2) Need a website/blog (alhamdolilah, Banu Noor has one, it just needs to be updated regularly). The one done by Hayl was simple at the time, it had weekly updates, promo advertising, pictures, etc...
3) Campaign on the forums, advertise massively on the forums, get as many people as you can on the forums. Alot of our discussion has to be taken to the forums, it's going to be our place to decide on things and everything
4) Create a Timeline. Hayl created a 6 month timeline, it's on the forums somewhere. Basically about what we want to complete, and we can look back and see what we completed, what we didn't etc...Our goals, what we want to achieve.

Hayl had two large promos.
1) They got a DVD by Sh. Muhammad Al-Shareef, one sister typed up the notes to it and put it in a power point presentation. Had a registration table where everyone signed in, so that you had each and eevery singly email address of everyone in the room. Brief intro on the benefits of seeking knowledge, Al Maghrib, Instructors, and Forums. The DVD was 1 hr long, and afterwards had a social lunch/gathering. It was held in an auditorium on campus.
2) They played a video by Sh. Yasir Qadhi, had a lunch social after wards, about 135 people, had a discussion afterwards.
