[/email]In order to help students learn the course material thoroughly and be better prepared for the exam this thread is dedicated to answering any questions pertaining to the exam material. Please help each other with questions if you know the answer for certain, but if you are unsure, then wait for Sh. Birjas to respond.

Regarding the topic of earning money during Jumu'a prayer, does that rule or law apply to both men and women?....since men are the only ones obligated to go pray jumu'a?

Assalam Aalikum,

I need to understand if there are any websites or software which can allow me to do some root word search of the Quran in Arabic and get the translations of that. Does anyone know

Assalaamu Alaikum,

SubhanAllah i'm sure we're all suffering from ADD (AlMaghrib Deficiency Disorder) as the brother referred to it, and can't wait for the next AlMaghrib seminar inshaa'Allah. However, one thing we do have to look forward to is this conference call with Shaykh Yaser before the exam, right?

Wrong! Apparently only if the students show enough interest in a conference call can the Ameer/Ameerah organize one: http://forums.almaghrib.org/showthread.php?p=239693#post239693 (http://showthread.php?p=239693#post239693)

So if all of you who took the class post enough questions, then inshaa'Allah we'll be able to get you a personal conference call with Shaykh Yaser Birjas. But just to clarify, this thread is specifically for questions for Shaykh Yaser to answer on the conference call inshaa'Allah. Students should refrain from answering questions otherwise there will be nothing to discuss on the conference call :).

If anyone has any questions related to exam logistics (such as exam deferrals, locations, timings, etc), please direct them to durbah.exam@almaghrib.org .

We want as many questions as possible for Shaykh so go ahead, post your questions below, and Shaykh Yaser will answer them on the conference call inshaa'Allah .

And don't forget to study hard and show Shaykh Yaser how awesome Heavenly Hues was by studying hard and acing his exam on February 17th inshaa'Allah :).

JazakumAllahu Khayran.

WaAllahu A'alim,
WaSalaamu Alaikum.

Conf call que:: What about the book 'Major themes of Quran' by Fazlur rahman? I have no knowledge about the author and would like to know if we can refer the book for further study or for preparing notes for exam from it?

Conf call que::Ofcourse Shaykh YASER told us that there is no need to refer aayah numbers while answering....but I wanted to know, would he be giving any extra marks / bonus if someone quotes the quran verses also?

I had two questions for the conference call, which I hope we get to have Insha Allah.

1. In class we went over a couple of stories in which the dead were brought back to life (i.e. the case of the 70 elite on the mount with Musa alayhi salam). What I dont get is that I thought all souls would taste death once. How we do we reconcile between the two? Or, maybe is there something I'm misunderstanding?

2. And, why are there 7 days in a week? I think Shaykh Yasir Birjas asked this question in class but I dont think we were told the answer.

I have one question, which is not related to exam but related to Tafseer, insha ALlah.

Conf call que:: When we read in Quran, "Arrahmanu alal arshistawa", which means Allah SWT rose over the throne, after the creation of earth et al was done, so when it says that Allah SWT rose over the throne, how do we describe what was His position before He rose over the throne? His position? May Allah keep me away from shaytaan's whispers, but this one was really obsessed in my mind for a span of time. Please include this question with the above . Jazakallah Khair.

Assalamo Alikum,
I have a question in the 2nd page of the notes. the last line has Imam az-Zarkashi~in his book al-Burhaan, what does this refer to. I think I missed this part in the class

I have a question regarding the first essay question (Write about the history of Tafsir and its development over the time since its inception until this modern day).
would the answer of this question include the analytical and thematic tafsir too or it would end at the compilation of the Tafsir stages.

questions from Zahra382:

1.Please explain the customs of the Israelites and the problems with them during the Period of the Successors.
2. The evolution of thematic tafsir, where should it be discussed,i.e.... history of tafsir and/ or approaches to tafsir, (essay question one or essay question two).
