Salaam a’laikum wr wb,

I was reading a thread from Banu Asad which said: What are you thankful for? The first thing that came to my mind was the Companions!

The thought of not knowing about the companios brings tears to my eyes, May Allah protect us all.

Insha Allah to remind ourselves, I thought it would be nice to write about the companions and how they touched you, of course you can have more then one favourite companion, but request is to remind us WHY, so insha Allah we can all benefit and connect with them more.

(Little physics) Purpose is to create a more complex circuit, as always current takes the easiest route and so does love. We have love for the things that we connect with. So insha Allah our brain will have more routes for the love of the companions to follow to our hearts, you will give us all another possible reason (point of view) to connect with these amazing people. http://forums.almaghrib.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

My favourite companion of all time is ABU BAKR (may Allah be pleased with him).

I love Abu bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) because of his love for Allah and the Prophet (peace be upon him). He never failed to do things that brought him closer to Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon). He(RA) accepted Islam without doubt and questioning.

Abu Bakr (RA) did good deeds well before they were mentioned by the Prophet (SAAW). Eg: He was fasting, visited a sick person, followed a funeral and gave sadaqah in the same day well before they were mentioned by the Prophet (SAAW).

I love Abu Bakr because: He trusted in the event of the mi’raaj while everyone else doubted.

My favourite companion is Umma Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). She is the FIRST muslim. She had no example but was an example HERSELF. Allah choose Her to support the Prophet (SAAW). Allah sent His salaam to her. Imagine if Allah said salaam to you in your lifetime (now that is something, aren't we all running after sense of peace).

I love Abu Bakr because He (RA) did dawah to Islam. He invited most of the Ten that were promised jannah (heavy weights) to Islam, now imagine the reward he (RA) gets. waaw! subhan Allah!

I don;t choose favorites, but I read about Salman Al-Farisi(RA) recently and his story really is inspiring!

subhanAllah, his motivation, dedication and commitment is amazing and most admirable. masha'Allah. He seemed like he had everything, he had a high position among the fireworshippers, yet he gave that up for the Truth. What kind of strong eman you must have to give up your former life to live a harder life in search of the truth. How many of us would give up comfort, ease and belonging to follow a higher path of knowledge? I mean, to make that kind of a decision isn't just something you do on a whim or because its "the fad", his heart must have been really straight.

Reminds me of reverts to Islam.

Asalaamu Alykuum,

It is only by the mercy of Allah they (all) were inclining towards the truth. They were successful in this dunya and were given great titles because they knew (the Akqaal) the reality of this world was and strove with their lives, money, family for the sake of Allah.
May peace of the most merciful be upon them all.

As for the question stated I have to say: Abdullah Ibn Masud, his legacy will always remain in my heart & mind. How he found Islam in his youth and the first time he met rasuallah (his honesty). And just how close/ attached he was to the prophet and was always in the service for the prophet. Consider this,he adopted his manner and followed his (rasuallah) every trait until it was said of him, "He was the closest to the Prophet in character.” How can I forget about the niima Allah has bestowed upon this slave (Abdullah Ibn Masud), the knowledge of the Quran, he was the best reciter of the Qur'an among the companions and he understood it better than them all.

Here as little glimpse of this great man. "One night the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, was havmg a conversation with Abu Bakr about the situation of Muslims. I was with them. When the Prophet left, we left with him also and as we passed through the mosque, there was a man standing in Prayer whom we did not recognise. The Prophet stood and listened to him, then turned to us and said, 'Whoever wants to read the Qur'an as fresh as when it was revealed, then let him read according to the recitation of Ibn Umm Abd.'

My favourite companion is Mu'sab bin Umair - why?

Because he was present during the battle of Badr and he lost his life during Uhud! He was the hot-boy in Mecca before Islam but subhanAllah he gave everything the world could offer - all of it up - for Allah and His Messenger! And for that reason, he is among my favourite! May Allah have mercy on Mu'sab bin Umair

Next up - Khalid bin Waleed

What can I write about Khalid? He was courageous and his name alone caused fear to enter the hearts of those who opposed Islam. Khalid is one of the few men that history has saved his story and no generation will live except that they will know of him. Someone said, "if one man who resembled Khalid bin Waleed was alive today, we would not be living under the Global oppression that we have become accustomed to"

And Allah knows best

I love all the companions, may Allah be pleased with them.

One companion that amazes me is Abdullah bin Umar may Allah be pleased with them both, because he used to stick to the sunnah and always follow and do what he saw the prophet peace be upon him do, and he also narrated A LOT of hadith.

My favorite companion is Ammar ibn Yasir. There is so much to say about him and his contribution to Islam.

It is sufficient for me to explain my love for him by narrating a Hadith by the prophet salla allahu alihi wa sallam, "The Jannah longs for three people...Ammar ibn Yasir."
Subhanallah, the Jannah itself longs for him. You know, we all try hard, and only Allah knows whether we'll make it or not, but Ammar ibn Yasir is different. The Jannah longs for him. Allahu Akbar.

this hadith has been classified as Weak by several scholars.

However, Ammar bin Yasir still was a great companion, may Allah be pleased with him.

Mash'allah just reading this thread made me smile ^_^ and cry.
I love the companions so much I mean imagine this for only a minute.

When the prophet (May Allah be please with him) became a prophet and there was no Khadija to help him out how would this deen be today?

Or what if Abu Bakr never became a Muslim?

Or if Umar ibn Khattab never visited the house of his sister to punish her.

Or if Ali never became a Muslim as a child?

Or if Uthman never died as ashahiid?

Alhamdulilaah they are all Muslim but just thinking about the ifs would make all of us cry, may Allah bless them and may Allah bless us. May Allah help us become like them, may Allah help us be steadfast in our deen. Ameen.

I truly believe that the companions of the prophet are the fruits of Islam. Learning every companion that ever came contact with the prophet and how they changed because of Islam is Mash’allah. Reading the story of the companions of the prophet would make every single one of us cry, yet not ALL of us come closer to think like Abu bakr, Umar Ibn Khattab, Ali ibn talib, Uthman ibn Affan, Bilal, Sumaya, Khadija, Aisha, Fatima, Umm Habibaa, Abdullah ibn Mas’ood, and so many more.

Why?

The fact is that we are letting shaitan win and this dunya get to us.

This thread is Mash’allah brothers and sisters and when you are putting down your favorite Companion, please thinks of these things.

The difference between them and you? What was holding them and what is holding you? Think of their love for Allah and your love for Allah? And last but not least think of how they got to paradise and what you’re doing to get there.
