Salaam Alaikum,

Islam Channel in the UK is just the beginning in sha Allah. With all of these pretty trailers it should just be a matter of time before AlMaghrib shows up on other channels as well.

What channels do you/your family watch?

Please also input channels that are missing (and which country they appear in) and I'll add them to the poll.

Note: These don't have to be Islamic Channels ex. ART isnt an Islamic Channel, but they are Channels that cater to specific ethnic groups

Like we want channels that are seriously watched on a daily basis in your homes.you have a point there, the problem with BridgesTV is it is a great concept - however it doesnt have a strong "easy to get" distribution.

I remember reading something on here a while back about how AlMaghrib should advertise on ATN. It's on 24/7 in virtually every Desi family home throughout Canada. I've seen people watch it 24/7 in Toronto to Edmonton- not just homes but restaurants too. I think ATN would be the best way to target the middle-class Desi demographic, especially if you got some of the Desi AlMaghrib instructors to give talks. And I know there are some Somali and Arabs who watch this stuff too!

I think that's another thing to use- have Arab instructors for the Arabic-speaking channels and the Desi instructors for the Desi-based channels--it appeals more to people and easier to relate.

There is definitely a cultural/geographic factor to it- Islam has different traditions and movements within it all trying to strengthen the deen. I think that's where it's best: to focus on those areas that everyone will agree like doing the Heart Wheel Journal for Ramadan- which everyone will endorse.

But I watch Peace tv online =), awesome channel.
Even Sheikh Yasir Qadhi had a show on it; the Seerah of the Prophet (SAW)

So for those who watch Iqraa - what shows do you like to watch in particular?

I just tune in the channel whenever I get the time, and there's always something great on.. I still don't know the schedule of anything.

Sh. Aidh al Qarni's programme comes sometime in the evening... does anyone know which days and time?

It's kind of useless if you ask me. The only reason people need to be going on there would be news, which you can get online now, or cartoons for your kids maybe, or the very few limited channels there are now like the ones in the poll. I don't know I just don't see a use for it anymore, but I see a lot of cool channels coming out like Islam Channel in UK, etc, for the purpose of that, that would be pretty nice. Anything besides that, only starts to ruin my brain(in the freaky programming while they're young, sense).

My family used to watch BridgesTv, then they switched over to QTV and GEO. I want Peace TV but I hear you can watch it online live..
Oh, okay. I understand where you are coming from.
I personally enjoy the Discovery Channel, History Channel, and news, or documentaries. But I guess it's better to refrain from the TV because of all the haram on these days.

lol my mother got rid of our television set a long time ago (2 yrs out of my small life is along time). but i voted Iqra because when we did have tv we used to watch it for like 20 mins at most.

I feel great without TV like a big crowbar was stuck in my heart and it was yanked out so easily i feel like i could breathe a whole forest. I encourage all of you to do the same, the fitna (not just indecencies but also time wasted n CSI or ABC MAD TV, BET, history channel, spike tv, UFC, ) all just a waste of time when our qurans just sit there and supress their knowledge. When we could be attending lectures, at the masjid, online, or in a home. Wallahi i love having no TV.....
...computer...is a whole notha fitna tho. u can watch tv on it now!

I like watching DIY networks, like Food Network and HGTV. But I don't have cable TV anymore, so I hardly watch the TV these days.
