Yaa Banu Asad - if you could get one class right here in Montreal, what would it be, and with which teacher?
No wish is too big.

I'll go first
I would want to bring Shaykh Muhammad ibn Faqih for Route 114 Uloom-al-Qur'an class. He's such an amazing Shaykh, still remember him at ROE.. :D
Light upon Light! With Yasir Qadhi.
I only heard the ilminar for that class and I want it so badly in Montreal!!

I know i know only one class but my second choice would be Precious Provisions with Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. Especially since we live in a society which is full of materialism.
I'm putting my second choice as well:
Light upon Light with Yasir Qadhi. Yes it's the same as my first choice, I know. That's how badly, truly, deeply I want this class.

Tell all your friends about this thread - let's get an actual wishlist going here.
You never know what may happen. I love that story of the sons of Zubair (may Allah be pleased with all of them) who made certain wishes and Allah (swt) made every single one of their wishes come true...

Didnt we have that already, with Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef? That was Qabeelat Ansar - who mashaAllah made almost forty Asadis feel so much at home that we actually thought it was in Montreal...
As far as the story, I couldn't find it anywhere online, so I transcribed it myself. I heard it on a CD by Shaykhuna Suhaib Webb - it was a talk called Prophetic Legacy.
One day in the precincts of the holy mosque in Makkah, a group of young men were hanging out.
Nowadays, where do our youth hang around? But early on, they would hang around in the Masjid. Today, many times we don’t even let the youth come into the Masjid.
Four youth were talking:
Abdullah ibn Zubaiyr, Mus’ab in Zubaiyr and Urwa ibn Zubair and Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with all of them. They were talking amongst themselves, when one of them said:
“Wish for something. If you could have anything in this world, if you could ask Allah (subhaanahu wa ta'ala) to grant you anything, what would it be?”
Abdullah ibn Zubaiyr was a young man, and he said: “I wish that one day I can become the leader of Hijaz.”
His brother Mus’ab looked at him and said: “Inshallah, one day, I’m going to become the khalifa of Iraqayn (ie Iraq).”
Urwa turned to them and said: “This is good, these are noble goals, but as for me, I want to become a scholar, and someone who acts upon his knowledge.”
When Abdullah ibn ‘Umar was asked what he wished for, he replied: “I hope that Allah (subhaanahu wa ta'ala) will forgive me.”
What’s interesting to note is that all four of them insha`allah achieved what they wanted.
Someone might say, “How do you know that Allah (subhaanahu wa ta'ala) gave Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu 'anhu) this forgiveness?”
The narrator of this narration says that “Subhanallah, Abdullah ibn Zubaiyr achieved his goal. His brother Mus’ab, achieved his goal, as did Urwa. Thus inshallah, we hope also that Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu 'anhu) got this forgiveness from Allah (subhaanahu wa ta'ala)”

Assalamu Aleikum, I love checking up on the Asadis, Alhamdullilah I attneded Tafseer Surah yusuf last summer with you guys and insha Allah will attend another summer course = may Allah grant you an awesomely beneficial course for the summer. Ameen.
P.S. My idea about choosing: Find out what seminars / halaqahs were condcuted in Montreal by other institutes / masajid in the near past, ex: if someone taught 40 nawawi a year ago and it had big attendance then it might be best to keep 40 nawawi for later, just hypothetical example.
P.P.S. All the suggestions are great: 'Uloom Al Quran / Light of Guidance / Seerah / 40 Nawawi > masha Allah
Just do consultation/research and guidance prayer
What are we doing to get these wishes? We need to make our wishes realities and I want to work in bringing these classes to Montreal.
What are the steps in getting a class like Light upon Light :)? Do we send a proposal to HQ? When is the earliest date we can have the class by? What steps do we need to take to publicize our class effectively? What do we need to do personally to ensure that we are doing this to raise our status in Allah's sight and not some person?

I think thats a really important thing to keep in mind. For example, Im sure Uloom al Quran is an amazing AlMaghrib course, but Shaykh Salam Elmenyawi has taught it for at least 2-3 semesters now at Concordia so alot of potential students might not be interested to take a 2 weekend course that they have spent 4 months on already. So for the near future I dont think that would be the ideal course for Montreal
