Fiqh of Love: testimonials and ambiance
Fiqh of Love: testimonials and ambiance
Bismillah.
One thing I have found is that when a new course comes to town, volunteers have a mini hurdle trying to get a 'feel' for a new seminar ... and this effects the enthusiasm by which they encourage others.
The hurdle that then happens is that 'after' they have attended the first weekend, they brag to their friends about how awesome the course was ... but by that time it's too late. People keep missing the train because they get pumped up 'after' the train has left the station.
So ... I would like to make the testimonials and ambiance thread in each course folder. Simply type up your testimonials and what you thought was awesome about the course. Then, those new Qabeelahs that get this course ... all they have to do is come and view this thread, reading it top to bottom, and then they will have the motivational fuel they need to believe in what they encourage people to attend... BEFORE the seminar and not after.
Bismillah ... tell us what you loved about the Fiqh of Love seminar, and it's ambiance:

Alhamdullilah I'll b taking this course TWICE this year! The experience in Canada was absolultey amazing. It was a humbling experience... why? Because Shaykh Waleed put in soooo much research that he left no stone uncovered in when if comes to love and marriage in Islam.
InshaAllah I'm glad to be having it once more! And I have a feeling Shaykh Waleed will bring even more to the table.

Only 2 posts?...has no qabeelah had this course with Shaykh Waleed yet? We'd like to know how it is, and how different/beneficial it is in practical married [or soon to be inshaAllah] life.
Please provide feedback, and share in potential 'ajr :)

It was certainly entertaining, we went through divorce too fast and the fiqh was covered very quickly, but there are some key tips on what to look for in a spouse an perhaps that was the focus
AllahuAlam
This was an AWESOME experience. I was blessed with the opportunity to take the first one with Shaykh Yaser Birjas and now the second one with Shaykh Waleed Basyouni.
If you took it the first time then know this: Its a completely different experience, each AMAZING in its own ways. In the new class we discuss many psychological aspects and real world examples to compliment the class and make this very interactive.
No matter what is going on in those two weekends,I would suggest you clear them up and TAKE this class if it comes to you!

So I must admit....wasn't really excited for this class but one of the main reasons I had for taking it was Sh. Waleed himself. Alhamdulillah, I've had the opportunity to be taught by him twice for seminars and more for other events and he is truly not an instructor you miss when he comes to town.
You just don't.
And so, time for seminar comes around and I felt horrible for completely underestimating it. Practical information, cutting to the chase, no wishy washy business as we may get if we ask these questions anywhere else and though some of the material can be hard to take at times, you leave armed with a lot of beneficial information that you k n o w you will use and come back to.
Plus, they talk about no such thing as a manual for marriage.
At least you'll have a notebook.
:)
Jazakum Allah khair and seriously, you know you'll miss out so.......don't!
Yes, it's that simple.

I agree with HalaTayybah. My main interest stemmed from the Ilminar in which Shaykh Waleed had introduced this class and also what Shaykh Yaser Birjas had said about it.
However...
The class was very extensive; we covered a ton of information. I felt that the Shaykh paced the class very well. He taught us everything in detail yet we finished everything. I also felt that with the stories, the class was made very practical and real for us.
It was a very enjoyable class and I can't wait to take another class with Shaykh Waleed :)

MashaAllah this class covered all bases when it comes to relationships, love, family, romance, and fiqh! It really gave me an appreciation for the Fuquha who have codified this knowledge so we could understand it better. And MashaAllah Shaykh Waleed really broke it down everything for us so well ensuring we understood each topic... the PPN will definitely highlight just how awesome this seminar was.
May Allah (swt) reward Shaykh Waleed immensely and bless his family for giving him up to us for two weekends.

This class was amazing masha'Allah! It was incredibly packed with 'ilm- I could barely put my pen down for a minute! The course was very structured and provided excellent insights to everyone and anyone, regardless of what stage in the marriage process each student was at.
I think I'm officially a fiqh addict now... considering all of the evidences that each scholar used to determine a ruling on a certain issue was amazing. It gave me a real appreciation for the amount of knowledge and intelligence needed to be from amongst the fuqahah.
May Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) reward Shaykh Waleed for all of the time and effort he dedicated to teaching us so much valuable knowledge. May his reward be multiplied and may Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) increase him and his family in everything good. Ameen.

May Allah azzawajal reward Sh. Waleed for teaching yet another amazing class.
I didn't take the class but subhanAllah the popularity of shaikh waleed's way of teaching is reaching far out, seven seas apart to another continent :) (that's where i live)
I heard SO MUCH about it that I really feel left out...MashaAllah, Allhumma barik ala shaikhana...

Bismillah
Fiqh
of
Love.
You would think it would be a simple topic to talk about.
You would think there would not be much to talk about for one weekend, let alone two...
You would think it is common sense...
You would think wrong.
I took the class and I thought the same thing. It is not what you think.
There was so much information..Going through that notebook once is not going to cut it (even if it is ONLY about love..) Honestly, two weekends are not enough for this BROAD topic. I would have loved a series that span across a couple of weeks (if it was intensive) or months (if less intensive.)
The great thing about this class are all the ideas it gives you for projects you can take outside of class. I think the best thing a class can give you is direction when you take that starting information out with you to the world (okay, your community first.) Sheikh mentioned that in class actually and I completely see the wisdom in that. Obviously, these classes are not just for entertainment (Although they do a good job of teaching while entertaining.) The point should be to benefit ourselves and others with this valuable information. If Allaah should ask us about our knowledge and what we did with it, we should hope we have a good answer....insha Allaah.
So more about the class itself...the content goes in sequential order according to how the whole process works. The Prophet's example is key in understanding the wisdom of a good marriage relationship. Roughly speaking, leaving out the details, we covered Love in Islaam, engagement, marriage, contract, the wedding night, life after the marriage contract, the intimacy aspects, babies, inlaws, divorce, and many other subcategories. The class definitely takes a holistic approach to the subject. The before and afters of love and many other things in between that will help us all practically and realistically are included in the notebook.
The personal benefits I got out of this class are many Alhamdulillah. For one, I feel I have a better view of marriage than I had before.
The stories the instructor gave made me laugh, cry, reflect(sometimes all at once.) At the end of it all, I can say without a doubt, I did not regret taking this class, it is not a simple lovey dovey class (although it has its moments), it is a real class with real benefits that we can all take out of this for the rest of our lives and our children lives, insha Allaah, it will help us make changes in our communities for the better.
Even though marriage is the main topic of single and married people alike when they get together. Unfortunately, academically, it is a much neglected topic, I feel. Although it is definitely beneficial and definitely needed, a halaqa about the husband and wife's rights is not enough. A couple needs the resources and tools and the motivation to start a life together on the right foot and keep that relationship going strong.
I believe Sheikh Waleed's class does a good job of providing us those resources to make us more prepared and motivated than we were before as well as give us the push to start more projects in this direction bi idhnillah.
JazakomAllah kheira for the sheikh and his family and all the AlMaghrib instructors and all those involved, crew members, etc who help make these classes possible. may Allah increase the barakah in your familes and increase the mawaddah and rahmah between spouses and family members.
