Wow mashaAllah this is a much needed course, I think its a shame that it is rarely taught nowadays, many lessons can be derived from the richness of andalus and its contribution to civilisation with knowledge we can attempt to revive the spirit particularly for community projects inshaAllah.

I'm fascinated to learn about America and Africa too! May this course arrive to the lands of QFawz without much delay ameen!

Looking forward to it :)

The proposed names for my course were really great. I lean toward the name, "Western Sunrise..." That is similar to how I feel and what I have used in the past

I can just visualise the poster for the 'Western Sunrise' seminar - the glorious sun rising above the ruins and mausoleums.. I guess that would depict Andalus now but not Africa and America. It'll be interesting and exciting to see the poster

There should be an AlMaghrib qabeelah in Cordoba, Spain insha'Allah!!!

Great idea: Having a Qabeelah in Spain. The lead would need to be taken by Spanish speaking members of Al Maghrib as that is the main language.

As-salaamu alaikum sheikh:

I have benefited greatly from your recorded lectures and written work (as well as the work of Brother Jerald Dirks which, I believe he draws from your research) in the past, may Allah reward you. Are there any plans for you to lecture anywhere yet or is your class still in the beginning stages still?

Yes, please come here inshaAllah!

Random thought: For most of us who grew up here, this class is going to be eye opening, from the looks of it, mashaAllah. We always think of Islam in the early days in Arabia, Northern Africa, and Andalus and rarely of it here in North America, subhanAllah.

I was wondering what the history of North America could be about.. Maybe its about the development of the nation of islam? The proliferation of Islam through the inspiration of Malcolm X? Immigration? Hmm..

And maybe also about people like Alexander Russell Webb (google him inshaAllah).

Hm, a course outline about this would be helpful.

The History of Islam in North America will look at the early presence of Muslims in the Americas before Columbus, just after the Spanish Inquisition and during the slavery period. It will follow the first waves found in my book, "Deeper Roots". We will not be going into the 20th century at this point but instead into unknown territory in History to open new vistas of understanding, Insha Allah.

Mashallah can't wait for this class. The few youtube videos I've seen really opened up a new avenue of learning about the history of Islam in america. and as the holiday season is upon us it's time to watch the "who invented (holiday)" or "where does (holiday) come from" The christmas one is deep subhanallah.

Subhanallah you have brothers say it's so hard to pray dhuhr at work or at school and then you read about a slave and he is known by his master as the one that prays 5 times a day.

I'm so excited to take a seminar by Abdullah Hakim Quick, he's so informative on this history of islam, the migration from Africa to the US and all in between... This will truly be a pleasure inshallah! Can't wait till he comes to the east coast!
