{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلاَ تَمُوتُنَّ إِلاَّ وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ}

{يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالاً كَثِيراً وَنِسَاء وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءلُونَ بِهِ وَالأَرْحَامَ إِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيباً }

Indeed a Muslim must always utilize Dinaya in performing as much good deeds as possible before meeting Allah SWT.

Allah SWT says in the Holy Quran Surah Al Imran:

'Every soul, shall taste death. And only on the day of Resurrection will you be given your full compensation. Whoever is removed away from the fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion' [03:185]

Every minute gone by is a minute closer to death, every hour is an hour less in this world, every day are deeds on our record and every year is a year closer to meeting Allah SWT. Allah SWT is Al-Muhyi, He SWT gave us life and He is Al-Mumit, the Causer of death and to Him His slaves will return.

We should always become aware of our actions and judge them before being judged in front of Allah SWT on Judgment Day.

Several Ways to View Our Sins:

1) Narrated Al-Harith bin Suwaid: 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud related to us two narrations: One from the Prophet and the other from himself, saying: A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which, he is afraid, may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this." Abu Shihab (the sub-narrator) moved his hand over his nose in illustration. (Ibn Mas'ud added): Allah's Apostle said, "Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a man who encamps at a place where his life is jeopardized, but he has his riding beast carrying his food and water. He then rests his head and sleeps for a short while and wakes to find his riding beast gone. (He starts looking for it) and suffers from severe heat and thirst or what Allah wished (him to suffer from). He then says, 'I will go back to my place.' He returns and sleeps again, and then (getting up), he raises his head to find his riding beast standing beside him." (Volume 8, Book 75. Number 320)

2) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Fear Allah wherever you are. Follow up a bad deed with a good deed and it will blot it out. And deal with people in a good manner.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi (1910)]

3) Ghaylan related that Anas said, "You do actions which are smaller than a hair in your eyes whereas in the time of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, we used to consider them to be among the grave sins." [Sahih al-Bukhari ]

Allah SWT has ordered the Moumin with Taqwah and warned the Moumin from dying on something other than Islam.

Allah SWT says in Surah Al Imran, verse 102:

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلاَ تَمُوتُنَّ إِلاَّ وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

‘O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)’ (102)

Allah SWT ordered the Prophet Muhammed SAW in Surah Al Hijr, verse 99:

وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأۡتِيَكَ ٱلۡيَقِينُ (٩٩

And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee. (99)

Nothing in this life is certain. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, yet we are very concerned with preparing for our uncertain goals and unknown future. Consider that the only thing we know for sure is that one day, we will die. Death is the event, that we should live our lives preparing for. If you knew something was going to happen, if you knew, you had to prepare for something because it was definitely going to happen, would you not do everything in your means, in your power, to prepare the best you could for it?

I hope I have benefited you because I just want to see you in Jannah.

Jazakem Allah Kharii for your time and please don’t forget me in your Dua.

Regards,

Mohamed Zainal

Asalamu Alikum Wa Rahamto Allah Wa Barakato,

Keep in mind brother Hamza that the statement is from Anas Ibn Malik RAA and not from the Prophet SAW. People sometimes get confused because it is from Sahih Bukhari.

Who is Anas Ibn Malik RAA?
Anas Ibn Malik RAA lived 90 years after the death of the Prophet SAW. Anas Ibn Malik's mother once asked the Prophet SAW to supplicate for Anas RAA. He SAW said, ‘O Allah, increase him in wealth and sons, give him long life and forgive him his sins.’ Anas RAA would recollect that he had 125 offspring ( others say that he had 80 children, 78 males and 2 females and the daughters were called HafSah and the second daughter her kunyah is Umm ‘amr - From al Isti’aab vol 1 pages 198-200) in his lifetime and only two of them were girls, his garden gave fruit twice a year and had basil which smelt like musk and he had lived long and had even survived poison and he hoped for the fourth part of the supplication.

Anas Ibn Malik RAA is directing the statement mentioned above to the Tabieen, the generation after the Sahaba. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah SWT have mercy on his soul, says: " the Muslimoon became weaker and started looking down on many hateful deeds that once the Companions of the Prophet SAW considered to be great destroying sins such as leaving congregational prayer in the Masjid, cheating and lying and so on. So the more the more the Muslimoon became weak, the more they considered their sins to be insignificant, the more they became slacker in their obligatory deeds because of weakness of Emaan" - Sharyh Riad Al Saliyheen;Volume 1; Page 338

Sources for the Hadith:

Sahih Muslim

Book 031, Number 6062:
Anas reportedAllah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) visited us and there was none else (in the house) but I, my mother and my mother's sister Umm Haram. My mother said to him: Allah's Messenger, here is a small servant of yours, invoke blessings of Allah upon him. And he invoked blessings for me (that I should be bestowed upon) every good and this was what he (said) at the end of what be supplicated for me: O Allah, make an increase in his wealth, and progeny, and cqnfer blessings (upon him) in (each one) of them.

Book 031, Number 6063:
Anas reported: My mother Umm Anas came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him). And she prepared my lower garment out of the half of her headdress and (with the other half) she covered my upper body and said: Allah's Messenger, here is my son Unais; I have brought him to you for serving you. Invoke blessings of Allah upon him. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: O Allah, make an increase in his wealth, and progeny. Anas said: By Allah, my fortune is huge and my children, and grand-children are now more than one hundred.

Book 031, Number 6064:
Anas b. Malik said: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) passed (by our house) that my mother Umm Sulaim listened to his voice and said: Allah's Messenger, let my father and mother be sacrificed for thee, here is Unais (and requested him to invoke blessings upon me). So Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) invoked three blessings upon me. I have seen (the results) of the two in this very world (in regard to wealth and progeny) and I hope to see (the result) of the third one in the Hereafter.

Yes, who said it didn't really matter though, it could've been any Sahaba. It's the meaning that it carries, it shows how weak our iman is..

Asalamu Alikum Wa Rahamto Allah Wa Barakato,
I am not saying that it does not matter because it is from a Sahabi. Of course it matters a lot that it is coming from a Sahabi. I just wanted to make sure that you my brother understood it to be from a Sahabi, for the sake of having the correct understanding and sources. The reason is because I am very strict when it comes to presenting evidence from sources. Please forgive me if I have caused any inconvenience or hurt...

I think there is a little bit of misunderstanding... I am actually on your side. I believe that it is very important even it comes from a Sahabi. I might have made grammatical or spelling mistakes in conveying my reply. Forgive me I am an Arab and English is my second language. However, I am with you and I am on your side; however, I just wanted to make sure that you know that quotation is from Anas Ibn Malik RAA for the sake of authenticity so that when I am asked on Judgment Day about it and I am held accountable for this act, I am safe.
