Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem
All the islamic sciences can be categorised into either being 1) Main ingredient of a cake. 2) Tools used to make a cake. 3) Optional toppings on a cake.
Tafsir of the Quran is a science that is like the main ingredient of a cake. An essential or core part of Islam.

Allah gives us methodologies implanted in the Quran. Methodology is a lesson that we learn and in turn we implement it in our lives.
The methodology we get in Allah using a Juxtaposition between the end of first ayah and the beginning of 2nd ayah i.e. the words, 'Iwaba and Qayeeman that are opposites of each other, is that Allah is trying to show us that we always have two choices in life. There is no compulsion in religion, only choices. So we should be wise in our choices making sure that we choose the option that would earn the pleasure of Allah.

The perfection of servitude to Allah is to take pleasure in worshipping Him rather than as a chore

The use of opposites in a manner that allows the text to flow is an indication of literary excellence, the Quran is the perfection of this Art
A believer is to remember Allah not just in their young or old age, but throughout their entire lives. In the beginning, the middle and the end.

2 conditions over and over in this Surah:
1) Iman
2) Righteous Actions (Aml Salih)
Allah subhana wa ta'la wants us to be the best of the best in all aspects of our life.
Our deen teaches us to perform all tasks with Ihsan. We shouldn't just do the bare minimum or just shuffle through life, we must strive to fulfill what Allah expects of us and that is nothing less than the best.

To unlock Jannah's gate, you are required to have a key. This key is the kalimah (la illah illa Allah). Now you need to get the teeth adjusted on the key. The teeth are good/righteous actions!

Prioritize your life. Prefer your deen over this dunya.

Allah subhanahu wa ta'la mentions the eternal life of Paradise more than Hell for a reason! He emphasizes His mercy over this punishment, gives you hope!

When the people of the cave wake up after 309 years of sleeping, the quran says 'wa ba3athnahum' and 'We resurrected them' (ayah 12)
At the time they were 'awakened' the city they left had become mu'mineen, but had one fitnah --disbelief in resurrection. So the sleepers were a sign to them to prove the power of Allah!

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala preserved the sleepers:
-- allowed the sun to shine in the cave to keep them alive because without sunlight its hard for humans to be nourished
-- A dog followed them to the cave and sat at the mouth of the cave and guarded them
-- ayah 18) "..and you would think them awake, while they were asleep.." Allah swt allowed their eyes to blink to keep them moist
--bodies turned from left to right to keep them from being sore
What's amazing about most of these subhanAllah, is if you look at it from a medical point of view, how they were preserved. There wasn't too much sunlight in the cave, they had to be in some of a 'cold' state to keep their bodies preserved.
During coma, nurses usually put drops in people eyes to keep them moist so nothing happens to the eyes. Also, nurses have to keep moving the patient from side to side to keep blood circulation in the body
A-mazing subhanAllah!

Nowadays, the words "masha'Allah...insha'Allah...bismillah" don't come easy out of our mouths. It should be a reflex!
