Assalamu 'aleykum guys,
so, anyone been to a seriously nice Taraweeh prayer in Montreal? So far, I've been to Makkah Mosque and CIC.
Shaykh Awais' recitation at CIC is really nice mashaAllah, and they brought down another Egyptian shaykh as well.
Any other gems in Montreal?

I checked out the Musallah at Vaudreuil, MashaAllah, that place was happening! They brought down an Egyptian Shaykh as well as one of the students of our local Qari - MashaAllah, the recitation was fantastic, the talk in the middle was really nice, and the whole Musallah is so cozy and gives this nice homey-feeling.
Check it out if you can, they also have a sister's section alhamdulilah. It's a bit far, that's the only problem, really, but honestly, the experience is worth it mashaAllah.

Okay, I went to this Masjid today which made me want to cry, and not for good reasons. Bad Tajweed, Bad Qira'ah, Bad Wuqoof...SUPER-quick, making Usain Bolt look like a tortoise. Too bad man, those were some of my favorite surahs.
Won't name the Masjid, but man, subhanallah, that was... interesting, to say the least. May Allah guide us all and keep us steadfast upon Islam.

The Stories of the Sahaba talks at CIC are really nice Masha Allah, especially since they are translated so well into English! The Qari's recitation after the tarawih is so beautiful there as well!!
Nafeesa, did that Qari come just for Ramadan to your masjid or is he always there? Where does he live. Masha Allah his recitation is so beautiful!

I know mashaAllah, he's amazing! He just came down for Ramadan from Jordan! :) It would be nice if you came 1 day inshaAllah!

MashaAllah, went to Rawdah today - wow, it's a lot nicer than the last time I went there.
The Imam was a bit sick, but subhanallah, it was still amazing. They started at 9:45 PM for Isha.

Masjid Huda last night: 8 rak'aats with a semi-fast pace, no talk in the middle, and no Qunoot. This is how 'fast' recitation should be. Isha was at 9:45 (tonight it's 9:30) and we were done witr by 10:50.
Oh, and he's probably going to hit up surah Yusuf tonight :)

I got no reports other than Makkah Masjid. 4-5 imams per night, they're all kids (15-20), insha'Allah they'll learn better if only the right people were advising them.
Insha'Allah will be making my rounds this week. ICQ, Veudreuil, Rawdah and then CIC. Weekend is wild card, maybe South shore.
Which south shore mosque is the one to not miss for a good tarawweh?

Dunno yet about South Shore, inshallah we'll find out from some of out south-shorians eventually.
Went to ICQ yesterday. MashaAllah, was pretty long Taraweeh, but I enjoyed it so much. Shaykh Bukhari really recites at a fantastic pace - not too slow, not too quick, just right for focus on the meanings and stuff.
I sort of wish I went to get an ice cream after... inshallah next time :)
In the next four nights I want to hit up: Masjid As-Sunnah, South Shore, Darussalam, and a Masjid in Laval. I'm wondering if Shaykh Khaled is leading anywhere?

Yes he is! Went to Masjid al-Itisam in Laval today, for the first time ever. I enjoyed praying behind Shaykh Khaled al-Bakkar so much. His Qunoot is so powerful MashaAllah. They pray Isha quite early though, just a bit after 9:20-something.
I really want to hit it up again, it was indeed quite an experience.
It wasn't on one of the four Masaajid originally planned for the next four days.. but plans are made to change ;)
Either way, in the next three nights, I want one night at Masjid as-Sunnah, and one in South Shore inshallah.

Oh man, just got back from Masjid as-Sunnnah. Their Taraweeh does indeed pack a wallop. Beautiful recitation in Warsh (or is it Qaloon?), praying with a boatload of people. No qunoot, and no talk in the middle - which I actually liked, because they gave us time to just relax amongst ourselves instead, which I really used to my advantage, alhamdulilah.
I think Masjid as-Sunnah is definitely in the top 3, no doubt.
On the menu tomorrow night: South shore. Probably going to ICC, inshaAllah.

Assalaamu'Alykum,
Went to Rawdah and Veudreuil musallah.
Both very enjoyable!
Went to CIC, wasn't very impressed. It's just too short. It's like praying Maghrib.
But nice speech in the middle.
I want to go to I'tissam and sunnah!

Been praying at Assunnah for the most part of Ramadan. Besides the fact that you die of heat in the women's section, it is indeed one of the best places to attend for taraweeh in Montreal masha Allah. Recitation is great.
Besides that, i liked the stories of the sahaba that CIC has after 4 rak'ah.

Went to ICC and to Concordia. Not impressed. But wow, MashaAllah, CIC has a sick sound system... and having Qur'an at the break is quite refreshing instead of keeping it to the very end.

Assalaamu'Alykum,
I'm glad the sound system gave you an eman rush.
I went to ICQ last night, and they top the chart for me this year. Despite the horrible sound system and the almost non-existing rukus, I found such serenity with Imam Bukharis style and empshasis especially when reciting surah Insaan and Mursalaat. I almost totally broke down.
I know it's not most peoples pick for the top, especially with Rawdah (my number 2 pick) right beside... but my heart chose ICQ this night.
...having said that, I don't know if I'm brave enough to go back for the super-crammed fund raising khatam tonight...
Wa Salaamu'Alykum,
~Omar Khan
PS: If you want a real challenge hit up Masjid sunnah for qiyaam-ul-layl.
PPS: If you want a real challenge of manhood, pray with the imam from 12:30-2:30 while he does 2-4 rakahs. The other night he read the whole 28th and 29th in 2 rak'ahs and 1.5 hours...even someone who knows those two ajzaa will struggle.

there should be a "like" button on the forums (like they have on facebook), I would so 'like' this page...
Sadly, Ramadan is almost over...but on the bright side it's ALMOST EIDDDD!!! :)
