Bismilah,

A G.E.M is a Genuinely Enlightening Moment. Something during the class that makes you say “SubhanAllah”, positively impacts you, a quote, catchy phrase, or general advice to benefit those in class as well as here on the forums to benefit the larger online community InshaAllah, consider it Sadaqah Jaariyah ( eg: “The difference between those who remember Allah Subhaana waTa'ala and those who do not is like the difference between the living and the dead --so which are we?” ) Come on ya jamaah, let's share some GEMs!

It's been a couple years but it's good to be taking another class with Sh. Yasir Birjas!

The Prophet (PBUH) dressed with that which was available, so if there was something he didn't own... he did not go out and pursue it unless he needed it. And if he was given something, he would not reject it.

Why are we so stingy in being generous with our smiles? The prophet alayhi asalaam was the most amongst men who smiled. :) Smile!

To prove ones love, it must be reflected in the actions. When you LOVE someone its not just feelings, but you follow the actions. If you truly love Allah then you would follow the prophet alayhi asalam.

Thinking of Muhammed alyahi aslaam as an angel or something so holy, you would never be able to 'follow' him and love him truly, you must know and imagine him as a human being.

Reminder: you will be gathered amongst whom you love.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" -- not only was the Prophet physically handsome but his attributes and modesty added so much more to his beauty.

His walking was fast, straight and firm. He wore shoes and sometimes barefoot. How about trying to go barefoot outside sometimes...

Sadly, in our time and culture, we literally LIVE TO EAT. The time of the prophet alayhi asalaam, the way they say wasn't fully on the ground but on one the knees -- it was quick and filled them up.

A DIET you won't find in magazines:

1/3 for water
1/3 for food
1/3 for breathing <-- you must be able to breathe!

To make sure people understood an important concept, the prophet would repeat it three times.

When he smile wide, that was his laughing, alayhi aslaam, his teeth would show, and when he was literally LOLing, his molars would show because of how big his smile was :D. -Shaykh YB

Did you know the prophet would always weep for this ummah. He would stay up in his praying crying, his last words were considered about his ummah. He was so eager to know his 'brothers' because we believe in him without even seeing him. <3

Its astonishing how horrible Rasool Allah is portrayed in media today. I was thinking about other prophets who you read about to be more 'rough'. This man, alayhi as salaat was salam, was the most gentle and merciful person. He saw a man once dragging a goat to slaughter him, he told him to drag him genetly to his death.

Who would say that?

Incase anyone was wondering, here is the YouTube link to the first (of three parts, see the related videos) that Sheikh Yasir Birjas recommended to us to watch in the Doubt #2 section called "Why was 'Aisha so young?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEwmfIgSQQU

And here are the site Sheikh presented as recommended websites to educate yourself on the Prophet (PBUH) - to do your own research:
1) www.rasoulallah.net
2) www.nusrah.org (this one is in Arabic)
3) www.muhaddith.org

Salam,

It is obligatory upon us to send Salam AND Salawat on the Prophet PBUH.

When he (PBUH) was asked who was the most beloved him, he replied "Aisha", when he was further asked who from among the men was most beloved to him, he replied "her father".

...and let's not forget the pumpkins (or squash...wAllahu a3lam) :)

SubhanAllah, a man of compassion and mercy.

SalAllahu 3alayhi was Salam

"roughen up" My favorite part. Its Amazing people don't go barefoot anymore. I bet some of our back problems are caused by this (and those big cloud mattresses)

Sit on the Floor
Walk around outside barefoot (but them wash your feet)
Sleep on the floor

I'm going to try this tonight. I'm barefoot right now at work :) and will sleep on the floor tonight biithnillah.
