Inter-Tribal MA Competition

OK heres the deal....

we wanna hold the Martial Arts competition before Sensei Muhammad leaves for as my lil sister says 'Kah-naay-da'.

Orginally we wanted to hold it on Oct 2 weekend @ MCMC....but recently i found out that Sensei is gonna do a speech in Al Huda school in MD on OCT 3rd.....

...what i need is feed back on this situtation. and Sensei...when are you exactly leaving??

let us know...we wanna make this a reality...

im thinking anyone who wants to fight can show up...

if we have mre than 15 figthers...then we can have 2+ rounds goin down at the same time....or maybe we can devide it by weight division

Assalamu alaikum,

I think the idea of sparring might prevent lots of people from getting involved in this; and it may even possibly push people away from wanting to participate.

So Insha Allah lets try to think of more creative ways to do this "competition".


One suggestion:

Say there are few people who have expertise in a martial art.
Each person in each different field of expertise would gives a little "workshop" on thier martial art. So theoretically there could be 100 people participating in each worshop. The workshop would include fundamentals of the martial art, some cool techniques, etc.

So say there are like 5 main people who have some expertise in a specific martial art and whole bunch of other participants: those 5 main people would do a workshop for about 20-30 minutes each. So it comes out to about 3 hours of total workshop time.

At the end all the participants of the worshops give their feedback, and decide who did the best workshop. The one who does the best judged workshop wins the Intertribal Martial Arts Competitions!

At the end we can have this massive free for all , for everyone to join in. :)

Yea man...i was talkin bout fighting. Or maybe even restricted figting. Also for the weight division...i can gain 10 lbs in 2 weeks if i wanted :D Its not hard. Just gotta up my calorie intake and start pumping some mroe iron.

I just want the participation level to be higher.

The workshop things was just an idea to get people interested, and more people would want to participate without risking their ego being hurt :)

I just want there to be more creative ways in which we could have it a competition, but still have ALOT of people actually participating.

When most people think "We are going to be fighting each other", they are probably thinking street fight, or something like that. Which is exactly what we don't want.
