No. of Rakahs?

AsSalamu Alaikum,

One thing that we didnt discuss in TPA class was the number of rakahs in each salah.. We all know about the # of rakahs in fard prayers but what about the rest of the sunan/nawafils? What was the practice of Holy Prophet (SAW)?
