Study of right action - focus on this



One page - due Friday (no more than one page, 12 font, single spaced)

Discuss main trends of these two theories

Goodness - two main trends

human well being

Intrinsic value of goodness (good is good for its own sake) - ultimate happiness

Right action

Right or wrong

Two or three examples of people explaining this

Discussion of main figures of these theories

Issues or objections raised (how these theories are challenged)

Ethics has many areas, but the shaykh wants us to focus on 2 areas:

Area #1
Goodness -What is goodness?
a. Human well being (doing good to feel good ie happiness)
b. People do good because good itself has intrinsic values
Area #2
What constitutes right action?
Give 2-3 examples of the theories on this subject
Mention the leading figures in that field
Talk about the challenges faced

3/4 page for each area. Total assignment 1.5 pgs

In addition to this we have the IDEAL journal entries and the surah to study. Read and listen to the Quran from an ethical perspective.
