Durbah Scholarships from Heart Serene

Assalaamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

InshaAllah Durbah will be offering TEN scholarships for the upcoming seminar in New Jersey, Code Evolved: Evolution of Fiqh:

1. Durbah Academic Scholarship
2. Siddiqui & Chilwan Scholarship
3. IQRA Scholarship for Excellence
4. ROOTS Scholarship for Student Volunteers
5. Hidayah Scholarship for New Muslims

The first three scholarships mentioned above are academic scholarships which are based primarily on exam scores from the previous AlMaghrib seminar. The fourth scholarship is based on volunteerism at the previous AlMaghrib seminar. The fifth scholarship is to sponsor new Muslims and help them learn about their deen.

DURBAH ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

MAXIMUM AMOUNT
1 Course Tuition (approximately $165)

NUMBER OF AWARDS
2 Per Course Offering

DESCRIPTION:
Founded by Qabeelat Durbah, the student tribe of New Jersey. This scholarship has been established to support students who do well in AlMaghrib Institute courses, to continue in their endeavors and to encourage them to increase their knowledge.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
There is no application for this scholarship. You are automatically eligible to be in the running to receive a scholarship by attending & taking the exam.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to receive this scholarship:

• The student must have scored the highest on an AlMaghrib Course Exam. The exam must be taken during the date & location that the exam is first administered at Qabeelat Durbah. Deferral exams of any type do not qualify for this scholarship.
• Student must have attended all dates of the double weekend seminar in the course offered, prior to the next course given.
• The scholarship may only be used for the student who has made the achievement and may not be transferred to another student.
• The winners of this scholarship will be notified via e-mail and forums.
• The scholarship will be awarded for the next upcoming Qabeelat Durbah seminar.
• If the student wishes to not accept the scholarship for the next upcoming Qabeelat Durbah seminar, it will be considered

SIDDIQUI & CHILWAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

MAXIMUM AMOUNT
1 Course Tuition (approximately $165)

NUMBER OF AWARDS:
2 Per Course Offering

DESCRIPTION:
Founded by brother N. Siddiqui and sister F. Chilwan, of Qabeelat Durbah in the year 1428 AH. It has been established on the principle of assisting students in their endeavor to increase knowledge and deen of Islam through the AlMaghrib Institute.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
There is no application for this scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY
The scholarship will pay for any qualifying student for a single course offered by AlMaghrib Institute in full for tuition fees. The student must comply with the following criteria in order to qualify:

• Student must have attended all dates of the double weekend seminar in the course offered, prior to the next course given.
• Student must attend and complete the exam in the assigned exam location on the assigned exam date prior to the next course given.
• Student must have attended and written exams in at least 3 Qabeelat Durbah courses.
• Scholarship is awarded to the student with the highest exam score.
• The scholarship may only be used for the student who has made the achievement and may not be transferred to another student.
• The winners of this scholarship will be notified via e-mail and forums.
• The scholarship will be awarded for the next upcoming Qabeelat Durbah seminar.
• If the student decides to forego the award, it will be given to the next highest exam score.
• If the student wishes to not accept the scholarship for the next upcoming Qabeelat Durbah seminar, it will be considered forfeited and given to the next eligible student.

IQRA SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE

DESCRIPTION:
'Iqra' is the first word revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); he was told by Angel Jibreel to 'Read in the name of your Lord.' This scholarship has been founded by a Durbah student to increase the search for knowledge and to achieve excellence in matters of the deen.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
There is no application for this scholarship.

In order to receive this scholarship:

• Student must have attended all dates of the double weekend seminar in the course offered, prior to the next course given.
• The student must have scored the highest on an AlMaghrib Course Exam. The exam must be taken by the date that the exam is first administered at Qabeelat Durbah.
• The scholarship may only be used for the student who has made the achievement and may not be transferred to another student.
• The scholarship will be awarded for the next upcoming Qabeelat Durbah seminar.

DESCRIPTION:
The roots or foundation of every qabeelah are its volunteers. The ROOTS Scholarship was established by a [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Durbah[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] student to honor and recognize [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Qabeelah Durbah’s[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] dedicated and hard working student volunteers.[/font]

ELIGIBILITY
In order to receive this scholarship: [/font]

• [font='Verdana','sans-serif']The student volunteer must have volunteered for [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Qabeelah Durbah[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] prior to the next seminar given and have demonstrated exceptional volunteerism as recognized by the Ameer and Ameerah. The exceptional volunteerism may be demonstrated during the previous seminar, leading up to the previous seminar, or outside of the previous seminar.[/font]
• [font='Verdana','sans-serif']The scholarship may only be used for the student volunteer who has made the achievement and may not be transferred to another student. [/font]
• [font='Verdana','sans-serif']The scholarship will be awarded for the next upcoming [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Qabeelah Durbah[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] seminar and cannot be transferred or held for a later seminar. [/font]
• [font='Verdana','sans-serif']If the student volunteer wishes to decline the scholarship for the next upcoming [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Qabeelah Durbah[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] seminar, it will be considered forfeited and given to the next eligible student volunteer.[/font]
• [font='Verdana','sans-serif']No student volunteer is eligible to receive the ROOTS Scholarship more than once per Gregorian calendar year, nor can any student volunteer receive the ROOTS Scholarship for consecutive [/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif']Qabeelah Durbah[/font][font='Verdana','sans-serif'] seminars.[/font]

Hidayah Scholarship for New Muslims

MAXIMUM AMOUNT
1 Course Tuition (approximately $165, double-weekend or $85, single-weekend)

NUMBER OF AWARDS:
1-2 Per Course Offering

DESCRIPTION:
The Hidayah Scholarship has been initiated to help new Muslims learn more about the new way of life they have just embraced. This scholarship will help make it financially possible for new Muslims to take AlMaghrib courses and can thereby create a new avenue through which new Muslims can gain knowledge about the various Islamic sciences.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
Please email scholarships@durbah.org if you are a new Muslim or if you know a new Muslim who may need this scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to receive this scholarship:

• The student should be a new Muslim.

There were some technical issues for a few of the students while taking the exam, which delayed Scholarships dept in receiving the scores and contacting the winners. InshaAllah we're hoping to finalize everything in the next day or two and will have the winners posted by mid-week.
