Adib pretty much posted all of the notes so I'll try searching for some gems.

To start off:

The tongue pierces the heart better than the sword.

2410. Sufyan bin 'Abdullah Ath-Thaqafi said: "O Messenger of Allah! Inform me about a matter that I may hold fast to.' He said: 'Say: My Lord is Allah, then be steadfast.' I said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you fear most for me?" So he took hold of his tongue and said: 'This.'"

Talking too much without the remembrance of Allah hardens the heart. The tongue has the power to control you, it can do you good and also evil at the same time.

Here are some quick da'wah tips that we may derive from Surah Fussilat:

• We should purify our intentions and make sure we are doing it solely for Allah's sake.

• When dealing with the people, try to be forgiving and lenient.
  

• When giving da'wah, try to control their anger and calm them down a bit. Ex: even when they are being arrogant, we should try to be humble and kind in our responses. The effectiveness of our da'wah lies within our actions.

• The Qur'an is not just a bunch of stories to entertain us, they are mentioned so that we may use them. Allah instructs the Prophet what to tell the people and it is important for us to use these as well. As mentioned in Ayah 9: Are you trying to compete with Allah, the one who created the Earth in two days, the Lord of the worlds?

• Ayah 10: Allah made mountain ranges on top of the Earth so that we may appreciate them. In the Earth are blessings where plants grow from. Animals get their food from within the Earth.

• Ayah 11/12: The sky was all smoke. Allah commanded the sky and Earth to come together and so they willingly obeyed. Allah made the seven skies layered upon each other in a very strategic position. The sky was beautified with lamps (stars). Allah has made things beautified while they still play a purpose. Each star is like a fortress which protects us from the Shayateen.

• Ayah 13: If the people continue to turn away, warn them of Saiqah (lightning coupled with thunder; fire falling from the sky; explosion) just like 'Aad and Thamud. These tribes were mentioned because the Arabs knew of them. When doing da'wah, talk to them at a level which they would understand.

I just wanted to repeat again that while i am from Qabeelat Tayybah in location, i love Durbah for the sake of Allah.
