Re: A Trip To Your Neighbor

Ok this is an old one... but I wanted to share it b/c alhamdulilah we had good results with it and intend to do something similar this eid inshallah.

Basically we had moved into a new place and had a daughter (alhamdulilah). So we didnt know the neighbours and you know the usual embarrassing stage when you first move, you are okay with the hi's and the hand waves while coming and going to the hosue and then the neighbour moves into their house and thats it. Relationship stays the same for years?

So we decided to make a small giftbox with just few sweets and pasted a small letter on the box, stating we're your new neighbours and how we had a daughter recently. A quran ayah to peak their interest. We ended it by inviting them to come over to our house or calling us adn added our addy & tel number and email.

So basically some days my husband went by himself with our son - 3yr old (whose mashallah very eager to give gifts), and he got good response, he'd just gift it and they'd talk to our son and then ask whatever questions they had to him.

Other days we went for walks together in our stroller giving these sweets gifts house to house on our street. We ended up talking mashallah with the neighbours. They did talk to us but not in details and some were more interested in knowing about islam then others who were like okay and closing the door on us. etc. lol... I noticed that this allowed now the neighbours to be more comfortable and be abel to talk to us more frequently. We try to take oppurtunity when our son wants to go biking and their children are out too.

May Allah(swt) help us do a better job at dawah. and guide others to accept the deen (Ameen)

Jazaka ALLAH Khair Sincerity123 for the wonderful story. Keep them coming. We'd love to read and benefit from more of them.
