Wuduu: Wiping the Socks?

As salaamu aleykum wa rahmatulaah

In sha Allah, I have a couple of questions regarding the wiping of socks in wuduu.

1) How long can one continue wiping the socks without taking off their socks to wash their feet? Can the wiping of the socks be a continous process or not?

2) Besides Ghusl Janaabat what other things would nullify the wiping of the socks?

Re: Wuduu: Wiping the Socks?

Wa alaikum as salam wa rahmatullah,

This is what I have in my notes (and I think they're also typed up in the binder, page 29)

Conditions of wiping over the socks:

1) Have wudhu before putting them on. Do not wash one foot and then put the sock on. Finish making wudhu before you put the socks on.

2) The socks should be tahir and not najis.

3) Wiping over in a state of minor impurity is fine, but if a person is in a state of major impurity, they can't wipe over the socks.

4) There is a time limit for wiping over them:
- For residents, 1 day and 1 night
- for travellers, 3 days and 3 nights

Allahu Alam
Sorry if i didn't answer your question.

Re: Wuduu: Wiping the Socks?

Jazaakum Allahu khairun, sister. I needed that info, in sha Allah I will record that in my notes.

--------------
Question (2):
The things that nullify wiping the socks would include:
- When a person is in a state of major impurity, they can't wipe over the socks. (like times when one needs complete full Ghusl)
- When the time limit for wiping is passed. (over 1 day/1 night for resident and over 3 days/3 nights for traveller)
---------------

What about, if someone takes off their socks and changes into another, does that nullify the first wuduu? Can someone help with this in sha Allah.
