Re: Reminder Thread!

"There’s something amazing about this life. The very same worldly attribute that causes us pain is also what gives us relief: Nothing here lasts. My laughter won’t last forever—but neither will my tears. My pain will die. We say this life isn’t perfect. And it isn’t. It isn’t perfectly good. But, it also isn’t perfectly bad, either. Nothing in this life is ever all bad (or all good). In every bad situation we’re in, there is always something to be grateful for." [Yasmin Mogahed]

Re: Reminder Thread!

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Be good anyway.

Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People need help but will attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

Re: Reminder Thread!

salaam,

it's a slightly modified (by mother theresa) version of Kent M. Keith's 'paradoxical commandments'

Re: Reminder Thread!

"Imagine you were told a hurricane was coming and it would destroy anyone who didn't take shelter. What would happen? Those who believed, would take shelter and provision before it hit. Those who didn't believe would go on with their lives, as if nothing was coming. But could someone *really* believe it, and yet do nothing to prepare or save themselves? Could someone *really* believe it and yet continue to live their lives, as if nothing was coming? Could someone really know a storm was about to hit and let themselves be destroyed? Brothers and sisters, there are no surprises. You and I are told with certainty, death is coming. With certainty, a Day of Accountability is coming. But what have we prepared? Do we *really* believe?" - Yasmine Mogahed

Re: Reminder Thread!

A relationship is like a thread - once it breaks, you can mend it...but the knot will always remain.

We all seek healthier relationships [with family, friends, loved ones, acquaintances etc.] but often forget that a big step in achieving that goal is being mindful of our tongues - what we say and how we say it.

Often times in just a few words, we reveal the state of our inner-self...and it's not always pretty.
