If someone talks behind anyone about a fault that is true then it is backbiting. If someone talks behind anyone about a fault that is not true then it is called slander or libel. Both gheebah and nameemah are both sinful. If don't know if the above case is nameemah or gheebah, but for sure it is bad akhlaaq and we know that the two things that lead most people to hellfire are the mouth and the private parts while the thing that leads people to Jannah most are Good Akhlaaq and Taqwa.

As being muslims, we should not do backbiting of others. Backbiting should be ignored and it would increase our sin. So, do TAUBAH to ALLAH.
