Imam Shafi'ee was a talented poet, his poems were greatly admired by whoever heard them; then someone suggested that he go study Islam at the hands of the likes of Imam Malik and other students of Imam Hanifee.

How many times have Muslim parents sent their children to study Islam?

How many times did a father think that the Muslim Ummah needs a scholar, and envision his own son as one?

How many times has our intelligence been used up on simple worldy professions: engineers, doctors, pilots, soldiers, etc.???

The very concept that Islam is an immensely dry and underpaying subject, is the very problem the Ummat is under the dark shadow of ignorance.

Any smart child urged not to take his religion as his career, is basically human intelligence wasted.

So all of you professionals-to-be, there not much hope for you unless you got intention for fardh-al-kifaayah !!

When a difference of opinion comes to you, find out which level it's on:

1) it's outside the Sharee'ah (ex: someone says same sex marriage is okay)

2) it's glaring obvious and the other personis just trying to bring proof (ex: have wali or not)

3) it's the same opinion but an opticall illusion

Then go to some knowledgable you trust and follow that.
Using your intellect is not a good way, it's a huge mercy to have a person of knowledge.

Seven people will recieve the shade of throne from Allah swt, a young child who spends his youth worshipping Allah swt and a man who refrains from a women of wealth and beauty, out of the fear of Allah swt!

its great to see these gems... many of them (gems) we had the pleasure of discovering in the ottawa class... some which perhaps werent mentioned

overall, it feels good (and nostalgic) to see OTHERS go thru the same emotions (with respect to the gems) that we went thru not too long ago during our class
