*Cracking the Code* Usul al Fiqh Course Prep

Assalamu alaikum
Ma sha Allah Majdians just got home yesterday from their BOC exam and they are already prepping for usul al fiqh!

Here is what Warda came up with:
Quote:

USUL AL FIQH AL ISLAMI
SOURCE METHODOLOGY IN ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE:
Methodology for Research and Knowledge
Taha Jabir Al 'Alwani

Found here: http://www.witness-pioneer.org/vil/...uaf/Default.htm

-- > Another cool thread i stumbled upon: Is it Fiqh OR Usool AlFiqh??
I had a question.Would the following article be useful for the course?

Yes, this article is good for prep.

Also, I think "Principles of Islamic Jurispudence" by M. H. Kamali, is probably the best English book on the subject - detailed but excellent.

Taha al-'Alawi's book focusses a bit on the Evolution of Fiqh, which takes away from his detail on Usool al-Fiqh. A good book still.

Assalaamualaikum,
You'll quit.......maximum 8 days I give you. :P

On a more serious note, I could try to put some notes up from last year's Bilal Philips' Usool ul-Fiqh class that was held. Insha'Allah it would be good to get a head start? What you think Mr.Ameer?

It would be cool if you showed up to the Study circles.

Sorry, my sleep schedules only allow me four hour activities. Now I wouldn't want to be sleeping in the middle of a study circle would I?

(No insha'Allah I'll start comming. I've just had work or then final exams were going on.....sorry )

Re: *Cracking the Code* Usul al Fiqh Course Prep

I wanted to study Usul Al Fiqh from so many years and all the local Mashaykhs I used to bug about it, would'nt agree to teach me because of the language barriers.

May Allah SWT reward our Ustadh (hafedhullah) immensely for all his effort in putting together this course.

AlMaghrib's Usul Al fiqh binder is the best resource in english, mash'allah. Very detailed and easy to understand.

I have read Dr.Kamali's book and I feel it might be too overwhelming for the beginners. It's something to be read in your study circles after you have taken the course.

I would personally suggest Abu Ameenah's Evolution of Fiqh and Ar-Risala by Imam Shafee to be read before the course.

One very important tip:

Know that its not a FIQH class, boo everyone who asks fiqh questions. Seriously, its such a waste of time and you completely lose the flow when important concepts are being explained.

Assalamuaalykum,

Can we please have sisters study circles closer to central mississauga ( ie Dar al Tauheed) instead of WAY OUT in the border(TQA)...please? Insha Allah...it should be more convenient for all sisters, insha Allah, especially those who have a transportation issue; that too on a Sunday.

Wa Leikum Salam sis,

For the Mississauga study circles, only two sisters (including yourself) found dar-ut-tawheed to be convenient for them. The consensus was to have the study circle at the Quran Academy, so therefore I had to go with the majority.
InshAllah we can have a 're-vote' and see if the majority of the sisters would prefer to change locations.
