I agree completely!

The diamond caught my eye but I kept drifting back to the Vincent Van Gogh-esque flower poster. I think one of the elements of impressionistic art -- which the poster contains some of with it's thick, divided "brushstrokes" -- is that it compels you to really look at an image and ponder over it. Impressionistic art also has this quality of calm and peace, which makes you feel relaxed and at ease. Fasting, Hajj and Zakah are acts of worhsip that we need to ponder over to really get their full benefit. They are also acts of worship that contain deep and powerful forces of calm and peace.

I've seen plenty of bright, loud and colorful posters in a masjid before, but I have NEVER seen an artisitic poster before. It goes without saying that this is the most unique AlMaghrib class poster that I've ever seen. If it doesn't win, maybe it will at least get the graphic designers thinking on a new level when creating future posters.

May Allah reward you all for your great designs!

The poll is currently scheduled to end tonight at 11:16pm Eastern Time. Unless Ustaadh Muhammad wants to extend the poll ...

The diamond poster to me is the coolest poster, but I voted for the flower. Its so simple, and different. Masha Allaah.

Re: Hayl vs. Durbah Sizzler Graphics Showdown

Asalaamu alaikum,

JAK for all your efforts. My personal opinion wrt advertising and attracting others are:
1) the diamond poster will catch the eye of people and they would want to get closer and read more.
2) As for the flower one I think it's typography isn't clear and people would walk right by it.
3) the wallstreet one just stresses me out, eventhough unfortunately that's what people think when rizq is mentioned.

wrt to creativity
1)diamond is beyond that mashallah
2)flower is calm yet not as creative
3)wallstreet is creative in a way but too traditional in another

wrt to quality and professionalism
1)diamond has the highest quality and layout follows a professional look
2)...
3)...

As for the depth and awe of the diamond it's unexplainable in just a page of typing. It is obvious that every "stroke" was carefully considered and made with an underlying reason behind it very related to fasting, zaka and hajj, as was briefly explained in an earlier thread (check it out).

Also, wrt to quality, not one pixel on the poster was left for deadspace (background). The entire image seems to have been rendered with some message to take home. As for the rest they don't compare to the quality, effort, dedication and seriousness that seems to have been put into the diamond.

As Ustadh Muhammad always says (roughly) in his fiqh of dawa class; to do dawa we have to present something unique and not copy others' ways or work in order to be more effective and stand out...

Finally, as for our community it is hard to attract people to take classes and the best way is through this poster, and as they see more and more high quality, eye alluring, pleasing and professional work they will begin to recognize Al-Maghrib more and more and maybe eventually start taking classes. And this is what the diamond does.

not only simple, but the flower one also stands out. usually on a typical masjid's bulletin board, there are tons of posters/flyers so this one would definitely stand out next to them insha'Allah.

My vote goes to the flower poster. What seems like a simple line drawing conveys much emotion and feeling. The flower pops out from its background, catching the eyes of passersby's and giving the ambience of purity. This poster has a completely different format than all other Al Maghrib posters, instead of having the name superimposed upon an image, this poster brings the focus on the image itself
