Assalamualaikum,
Insh'Allah all of you will be in the best of health and Imaan. I pray that all of you are doing well during this massive cold and exam time Insh’Allah all of you will do well.As we know that Insh'Allah we only have about 4 weeks left to go before our next class, and I know we are all so excited and looking forward to it. I'm sure all of you have heard lots of good stuff about the class; I know I’ve heard tons of stuff about the Instructor, Dr. Ashraf Ismail; his teaching style and his personality. A few of us have also heard that the class is quite INTENSE and we came up with an idea to prepare ourselves before going into the class so we kind of have a feel for what Dr. Ismail is talking about, and to actively involve ourselves in the class discussion, not that I'm saying that we were not actively involves last class. ![]() I am pasting a link below of an article which has to do with the first part of the class. Insh'Allah throughout the month, I and Sr. Mariam will be posting articles for you to read and expand your knowledge Insh’Allah. If any of you have any question or even concerns, please do not hesitate to reply on the forums. Insh'Allah I hope all of you benefit from this. I will see all of you Insh'Allah at the class. Take care. MaSaalam The Rise of The Turks and The Ottoman Empire http://www.shsu.edu/~his_ncp/Turkey2.html Last edited by marium; 12-10-2005 at 12:11 PM. |

What a good idea masha Allah. Yeah, Islamic history can be very intense...there's just way to many caliphates and empires so we need to familiarize ourselves with it beforehand. Maybe we can add your research to our web site in the future insha Allah.
Jazakum Allahu khairan to both Marium and Mariam

As-Salaamu-Alaikum-Wa-Rahmtullahi-Wa-Barakatuhu,
I went to the library and met Marium and she checked out a neat book that Br. Ashraf recommended.. Mash'Allah , she's a student of excellence . Anyways, she definitely motivated me to do the same. So I got a on the time period that has book a list of "sultans" as it has been mentioned in the book, that were under the conquest of Outhman (ra), after they captured Constantinople. The list is repetitive...so we should make a pattern technique in knowing them...but the names are easy..ofcourse. Its a definite thing to use for our exam..right? I'm kinda new to Al Maghrib. The list is from the book "The Ottomans" by Andrew Wheatcroft. I also have a book I used in my Art History class and I'm sure its full of monuments of mosques and city formation that can help us visualize the city lifetimes of Ottomans and other civilizations that we need to know. The book is based on Islamic Archiecture. List of Sultans from Ottoman Civilization

BISMILLAHIR REHMAANIR RAHEEM
Assalamu 'alaykum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh. Dear Qabeelat Ittihaad Members: It is my turn to post the articles now... BUT I do not want to cook the food and let you all eat it. I need you to donate the chutney at least. So, here is something to tease your brain before I post the article... (o) Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Hindustan. tell me why all these countries have "stan" at the end? (Hint: Notice their geographical location) (o) Ma-ha-ta-ma (not Muhammad) Gandhi was a well-known leader. What was up between him & Muslims? (o) What's the difference between East Pakistan and West Pakistan? Rules: ![]()

Re: Islam Invulnerable: The Making of the Modern Muslim World
Yay! You got it right!
![]() Fact: Pakistan and Bangladesh were ONE country -- one "Muslim" country. The country now known as Pakistan was actually West Pakistan because it was on the West side of India. Bangladesh was East Pakistan because it was on the East side of India. Unfortunately, the Muslims of the two countries couldn't get along, so fought and separated. Can't Muslims ever get along? Lesson for Ittihaad: History repeats itself...but if we keep working for the sake of Allah together, with sincere intentions and without jealousy, insha'Allah...we will remain united despite our geographical boundaries. It is the boundaries in the hearts that make differences. Considering the weather of our location, Amna101Sabr, here is free hot chocolate for you :
