Differences of Imams

Assalamalikum wa rahmatullah!

I was going over the main reasons for conflicting rulings among the major imams (Evolution of Fiqh by Bilal Philips, pg 91-100) and I noticed that there is only one example for each difference. And I thought, perhaps, it will be a good idea that we look up for more examples for each difference as a preparation for the class. So is anyone interested in helping me find more examples for?

b) Literal and Figurative meanings

c) Grammatical meanings

2.Narrations of Hadeeths

Re: Differences of Imams

Salamalikum Sh. Yasir,

I was wondering if the word 'mizan' used in Qur'an first in verse (55:7-9) and then in (57:25) would be an example of 'literal and figurative meaning'. In 55:7-9 used as the 'scale' and in 57:25 used as 'justice'. If yes, did it ever cause difference among imams in their understanding of 'mizan'?

Or is it 'Asha'ree' understanding to refer to the 'scale' (mizan) as Allah's Justice?
