Qabeelah Naming Suggestions
Asalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullah,
I believe it is time that our newly formed Qabeelah comprising both Thabt and Mubarak receives a new name. A name that can represent our new and unique identity. If you were to ask me, which Qabeelah I belong to I would automatically say Thabt and not Mubarak. And if you ask the liwaa holders which Qabeelah they belong to they will most likely say Mubarak and not Thabt. This does not seem to strengthen our Qabeelah. We have an Ameer and Ameerah for Maryland and a set for Virginia which I believe is good however we also have two websites and for some previous classes two newsletters. Even here on the forums, under our usernames some of us have Thabt and others have Mubarak and the liwaa. I choose to keep Ummat Muhammad because I don’t think either choice represents the reality of our present situation. So inshaAllah whether you consider yourself a Thabtee, a Mubarakee, a Thabt-Mubarakee, a Mubarak wa Thabtee, a Thabt Refugee, or whatever let's have some suggestions to redefine ourselves and our mission as a Qabeelah.

wa alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
alhamdulillah we were going to announce this at the class, but we should get started on it now. personally, I have absolutely no suggestions...i'll think it over and post whatever I can come up with on the thread inshaAllah ta'ala. I think someone should STICKY this thread. anyone I think sister Iman mentioned, Awliya/Auliya, but then the tense would be changed or something like that, i'm not 100% sure though, wa Allahu a'lam. ....i'm drawing a blank.....lol be back soon bi'ithnillah! wa salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Re: Qabeelah Naming Suggestions
Assalaamualaikum wa rahmatullah.
Yeah, they are going to go over this at the class...but that shouldn't stop us from brainstorming right now. I think it was 'awwaloon' that sr. Iman suggested, since we were the first two Qabeelahs. Thabt refugee...that's hillarious. I think in choosing our name we should look at our qualities. What is special about MD/VA in relation to the Muslims? We were the first two Qabeelahs, anything else?

Re: Qabeelah Naming Suggestions
Qabelat Medina?
Qabeelat hijri? I do not know the proper grammar, but I was thinking about how the Muslim Umma was renewed and stenghtened when they moved to Medina and build a new strong hold. Allah alim. |

Re: Qabeelah Naming Suggestions
Alhamdulilah, I thought I'd hit reply and give some feedback to this thread instead of just reading and closing it because I have a really good name that I would highly suggest, I like it and I think it fits us well.
Qabeelat Subh We are where Al Maghrib arose from so it should be a befitting name to name us after the rising of the sun just as this area had helped to bring about the rising of Islamic knowledge (atleast via these seminars). (I thought of this when thinking of the "Qabeelat Thabt - Where it all began") I like that, especially now seeing how many cities that Al Maghrib is reaching.. Alhamdulillah |
