Asalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakathu,

Basic idea: Ask a person to fill out a survey for you and then go over the answers with them. Note their response to the shahada questions at the very bottom and if they gave right answers...teach them 5 pillars of islam and then ask them the shahada questions again...if they agree then ask them to accept islam

IT WORKS!!! Five people embraced Islam this way this thursday alhamdulilaah!

Heres the survey we used...ufcourse all constructive criticism is most welcome!

typo: Q 7. fairy tail > tale.

Tail is the posterior part of an animal or object (e.g. if you drive too close to a car you are tail-gating, the lights on the back of the car are tail lights) or something that hangs from or below a body or object e.g. pony-tail (hair do).

Tale is a story, usually not a true one.

Forgot to mention, Few more pointers:

-Explain to them believing in ONE GOD necessitates also worshipping Him the way He wants us to.
after an individual accepts there is only One God and Muhammad pbuh is his last messenger but doesnt want to accept islam based on some reasoning like, i believe already i dont think it necessary to openly declare xyz....

I noticed lot of times theydont understand the uloohiya part of tawheed and alhamdulillah you go over it with them and they DO realize the importance and might take the step of acceppting Islam if Allaah swt blesses adn guides them...

-Dealing with commitment if taking shahada

Some times they say, i wont be able to do the 5 salats, and all the rest of the required things Islam asks ...u can say to them... Islam is like an apple, u want to taste the sweetness of all of it....u start with a bite, u taste it then u take another bite...u can insha'Allaah build up to the 'required' things...and not try do them all ...just like how u wont be able to gulp down the full apple... u take step at a time.

I wanted to actually post this next week but oh well here goes...

Get this: some times a person might come across you they already have all the basic understanding/knowledge of islam and do believe it in their heart but just didnt know how to 'accept' Islam...

Thats what happened for the first two ppl in our case...

First person: One bro came and ticked all right questions, when we asked him does he really belive he was like...yeh ...i been reading abt islam and i believe in One GOd and His messengers etc... So HONESTLY...ALL YOU GOTTA ASK THEM>>>"Would you like to testify and embrace Islam?"

Same thing with the sister who came within same half hour as this brother...she knew of islam but didnt knwo how to become muslim, just had to ask her...and masha'Allaah they ask themself to you what the next step is..."when do i pray? where do i pray? who will teach me? how do i cover my hair"...

Third person: Ok this is gonna shock you all...this bro also believed and had read quran ...but didnt feel he wanted to accept islam at that point... and this is when the whole (remind them of death and make it seem urgent thing...is needed to make them realize the significance)...

only in this brothers case...HE EVEN KNEW HOW TO READ QURAN IN ARABIC... so ufcourse this person masha'Allaah is already committed and then when I asked again for shahada (for like the atleast 10th time?..funny thing was he didnt want to take shahada he said...but he stuck around the dawah table and just kept like thinking as if he was battling his desires on what to do)...

Anyhow, so the bro finally asked "what are the 5 pillars"...he already knew them but needed to confirm...i explained...masha'Allah he even wanted to knwo exactly how long we fast and stuff... and the meanings of parts of salat and after that...the beautifulll phrase was "Ok...so How do i become a muslim?"

And WALLAHI, after they took their shahada, they looked so happy! and before it they were going on and on abt not wanting to commit...they cant pray or what not but afterwards...they were asking HOW AND WHEN can they pray? who to get help from...subhan'Allaah


Allahu alem, in my humble opinion dont let them go unless u really asked them in all best ways to take their shahada...

Heres few analogies I used when they said, 'i'm not read at this point':
- If the prof had asked you to write the test at any point in your life...which day would you choose? I am asking u to testify today simply cuz human beings procastinate and insha'Allah this is something YOU already believe, your soul accepts... so why procastinate in this??
- Client / programmer: If client asks u to do specification A, B, C...and u keep doing D, E, F...even though YOU KNOW He wants A, B, C...do u think he wud be happy? Should he pay you? if the deadline passed, will you pass? ... similarly We were sent down to worship Allaah, he asks for tawheed in all actions...if we do all other good deeds but dont acknowledge the ONE THING we were send down for.... do you think He will be happy with us?

hmm i'm sure tehre were more stuff but these were the main ones that seemed to get to them.

I'll type up the last 2 people stuff later...

1. Call up the dawah centers to get MORE than we need insha'Allaah. OR buy them by end of this week insha'Allaah

2. Go over the survey of the people who left their contacts with us... and divide the list amongst ourself to follow up with them Especially those who had like half shahada answers in the surveys... they are in my humble opinion worth followups! I just am not sure how to approach them...cuz they left emails.


Most importantly, I spoke to MSA ppl to arrange a get together for all new muslim/muslimahs so we can insha'Allaah teach them the basics and how to pray. They will be contacting us shortly. IF NOT, I say we atleast teach the sisters how to pray on our own. And make sure the bro we had assigned to the revert brothers is keeping up with it?

Any suggestions?


BTW, it was AWESOME seeing you at arabic class today
