Question about Halaalness

Salaamu Alaikum,

We learned in the History of the Khulafa class that before getting involved in business transactions one should learn the Islamic laws regarding it, so one doesn’t get involved in interest.

I wanted to know if the money earned from selling used text books on ebay (and the like) halaal, provided that the books are not sold at the price of new.

Jazakallah.

Alhamdulillah.
If you bought a textbook, you own it, and now you wish to sell it, it is totally legit, in sha Allah.

In fact, you can sell it for whatever price you wish. Even if it is more then the same textbook new. That's up to the seller to purchase it at a higher price if they wish.

wAllahu 'alam.

Re: Question about Halaalness

speakin of ebay...

...someone once told me that auctions are not allowed unless you state what price you (the seller) got the item and what is the maximum price you (the seller) wish to sell it at...

...is that true?

or

...can i just set it at regular auction and let people just bid without sayin how much i got it and without setting a max price?

Re: Question about Halaalness

I also heard that auctions are not halaal. Shaykh can you please shed some light on this. Jazakallah.
