Re: Enrolling in a Seminar
The factor that effected my decision was the timing of the course, since I had three midterms on those weeks and its difficult to juggle both, I also notice that instructors have about four exams per semester, not the traditional midterm-final, so the timing of the seminars is very important to me....and others as well

Re: Enrolling in a Seminar
So what would be your(not just you in general csulb students) best time frame in a year to take these classes ?
Does CSU has quarter or semester ? How about other UCs ?

Re: Enrolling in a Seminar
Each semester exams might fall on a different time, but they are generally about the same, preferably I would like to have them in winter break and the summer(also depends what time, since schools do offer summer courses and a lot of people are on vacation)
During the year it would be best if it was after my exams or before, so for each student it might differ, but I think in general its about the same time. Best way I think to know when students have their midterms is to either ask on this board or ask the MSAs to ask the students or something like that Right now or this past weekend and the coming weekend would have been perfect or the two weekends before my midterms, Its hard to know exactly when the best time would be until we get our course syllabi and start the semester CSU has semester, I think it has quarter but iam not sure, maybe for certain classes And iam not sure about the uc system |

Re: Enrolling in a Seminar
assalamu alaykum,
i think there is an option missing. for me the biggest variable is the location of the seminar. other than that , man ill take it anytime even in finals week. |

Where as I am not a student, the issue of mid-terms is not a problem for me. My problem comes with conflicts with my work. I chose the time of year because there are seasons where I will not be able to take time off because it is our busiest time. At the same time as answering this questionaire I am reminded about the tests for students of knowledge that appear immediately after making the commitment to study Isalm as explained so eloquently in Under the Shade of Scrolls. Reflect a moment on the tests on us and what they build in us if we face them and take the course anyway. If you have not heard the EmanRush production yet, rush to do so.

Re: Enrolling in a Seminar
AsSalamu Alaikum,
I think that the timing of the AlMaghrib seminars should be placed at times when students are not too busy. For example, timing the seminars during the winter and spring breaks of students, or during the beginning of the semester, where students are not too busy because the beginning of the semester is usually light in terms of workload. |
