DURBAH: Come forth to Unleash Truth (newsletter competition)

Assalaamu alaikum,

First things first:

The gauntlet has been thrown and it is up to DURBAH to pick it up as a first step towards claiming the LIWAA' inshaAllah.

This is the official call to ALL of DURBAH to harness it's most mashaAllah-fied talent in creating the newsletter to put all newsletters to SHAME.

We will be the first Qabeelah to publish a Breach of Covenant newsletter, and inshaAllah we WILL set a standard so HIGH, the other Qabeelahs will exhaust themselves trying to reach us.

The field is wide open as far as ideas are concerned, so let your thoughts POUR FORTH.

Who we Need:

Layout Editors - This is probably THE most important position we need filled. No layout, no newsletter; it's as simple as that. Whether you know or are familiar with Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe InDesign, or QuarkExpress, you MUST rise to this occasion and share your talent, inshaAllah.

Copy Editors - This job's for you if you love to Pick the Nit. You've gotta want to pore through other's writings and rid them of any grammatical, spelling, or "ummm... that doesn't make any sense" mistakes.

WRITERS - Alrighty then... this one's personal:
You MUST let the pen of your mind loose. Everyone's got an EmanRush, but it's time to give that Rush a triple shot of EmanSpresso and just let it all out in a piece of writing that will re-awaken the souls of those who read it. You've got THA RUSH???
It's time to UNLEASH IT


EVERYONE - If you've got IT (being that which will bring mighty MashaAllah-ness to this project), you're hereby summoned to inshaAllah contribute in bringing Al-Liwaa' inshaAllah.

InshaAllah this is just the beginning, so feel free as a falcon in letting those ideas and suggestions GUSH FORTH.

Salaams everyone,

The challenge is on and I am ready. I am here to support and recruit for our tribal competition. Let's try our best to make Durbah's name known. Step up and help your friendly qabeelat. You can't write? Whatever, we know that's not true. You all have it in you. So you can't copy edit? Not true again. Are there people familiar with Adobe Pagemaker or layout, don't be shy. We need computer people familiar with layout.

No excuses, we want to hear that you can help. The deadline is the day of the exam so we don't have much time. So rise up and say "I am Durbah, and I will take the challenge." Help your tribe. Help Durbah. Now we expect to hear from all of you and I know you want to make a difference. So do it through writing and say "I will write." or "I will edit."

Now it's your turn, show us you are Durbah. Make us proud.

Our DEADLINE for now is that it has to be completely ready by the Exam, which is sometime in the middle of July.

Now, keep the momentum going inshaa' Allah

The exam is currently scheduled for July 18th inshaa' Allah. We normally have 2 exam locations (one by the class location -- Rutgers) and one in North Jersey. That means (if we do only those locations), that they would need to be complete before then, if each location were to print enough out for all the people taking the exam (and EVERYONE WILL BE TAKING THE EXAM INSHAA' ALLAH!!!). Keep that in mind as you set the deadlines for your Durbah Editorial Staff

I have layout experience and I can work with Adobe Indesign!

Except I doubt many Brits would use the word SMACK...

I'm up for editing inshaa'Allah and I may be able to help with writing, depending on what you need.

Perhaps an article on your efforts across the Atlantic, another on the JIMAS Conference ... I'm sure you all can come up with more brill (see, there's a British-ism for you all ) ideas on what to write about inshaa' Allah
