Lightbulb Compete With Me!!!

Brothers/Sisters,

Assalamu Alaikum. I have a crazy idea.

I want to start a monthly competition among ourselves. The objective is to excel in our Ibadah by the way of competition.
I want to start an online website for tracking our ibadah perormance on a monthly basis. And there will be ONE winner at the end of the month. Don't worry, there is no showing off here as all users will be adviced to use their nicknames.

Right now, I think we can include "Compete Items" like:
  • Tahajjud
  • Fajr Sunnah
  • Fajr Congregation
  • Fajr Takbeer Ula
  • Witr
  • Monday Fast
  • Thursday Fast
So what's next?

I want you to do 3 things (or atleast 1):
1) Say: "Wow thats awesome and I want to join"
2) Suggest a good name for this project
3) Add/Delete to "compete items" above and grading rules / valid excuses (This can be done later)

If I get some good numbers, Inshallah I will start the project on June 1st. The competition really works!!!

FiAmanillah

Re: Compete With Me!!!

MashaaAllah, great initiative, barakAllahu feek.

MashaaAllah, great idea also to advise to use nicknames, and inshaaAllah to use different nicknames than we have on the forums would be better - so as to be completely anonymous, inshaaAllah. (Maybe this is what you were already suggesting though, Allahu 'alam)

Some more suggestions for "Compete Items"
  • Reciting Mulk and Sajdah before going to bed
    • "The Prophet never used to sleep until he had recited Surah Sajdah and Surah Mulk" [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2892; Ahmad, 14249. Al-Albaani said in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi (3/6) that this hadeeth is saheeh.
  • Reciting the Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah
    • Narrated Abu Mas'ud Al-Badri [radiallahu anhu; Allah's Messenger [sallalahu alayhi wasallam] said,"Whosoever recited the last two Verses of Surat al Baqarah at night, that will be sufficient for him." [Sahih Al Bukhari, Hadith No.4008]
  • Reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi before going to bed
    • Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) appointed me to guard the zakaah of Ramadaan, then someone came and started rummaging in the foodstuff … and at the end of the hadeeth he said: “When you go to your bed, recite Aayat al-Kursiy, for there will remain with you a guardian from Allaah, and no devil will approach you, until morning comes.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “He told you the truth although he is a liar. That was a devil.”
  • Reciting Soorah Al-Kahf on Friday
    • “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.”
(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249. Ibn Hajar said in Takhreej al-Adhkaar that this is a hasan hadeeth, and he said, this is the strongest report that has been narrated concerning reading Soorat al-Kahf. See: Fayd al-Qadeer, 6/198. It was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6470)
  • Praying Salatul Duha
    • Narrated `Aisha radiyallahu `anhaa: Allah’s Messenger sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam used to pray four rak`at in Duha prayer and added whatever Allah wished for him. [Reported by Muslim]
  • Consistency in the 12 raka'at of Sunnah Prayers
    • The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever prays twelve units of prayer voluntarily in a day and night Allah will build him a house in Paradise" [Related by Muslim]. Al-Tirmidhî relates the same hadîth with a good chain of narrators. The 12 units are - 2 before Fajr; 4 before Duhr; 2 after Duhr; 2 after Maghrib; 2 after Isha

* Hadeeth updated

Re: Compete With Me!!!

Wa'ailkuma Salam Wa Rahmatuallahi Wa Barakatu,

Awesome!

*Additionally, memorizing from the book of Allah Azza Wa Jala. Whether it be a verse, surah, etc. All in all striving to be a campanion of the Qur'an. Meaning memorize, understand, and In sha'Allah implement what one has recited .

`Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, "The one who was devoted to the Qur'an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.''' [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Tips: Written in stone, Tips on memorizing the Qur'an. By Shaykh Muhammed Alshareef.

Re: Compete With Me!!!

Awesome idea... I'd love to join as well, inshaAllah.

I would also suggest:
- Fasting on the 13th, 14th and 15th of every month.
- Making wudu before going to bed.
- Jum'aah congregation
- Memorizing ahadith
- Making dhikr after prayer

InshaAllah, will add more soon when I think of more.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

My friend (the Prophet) advised me to do three things and I shall not leave them till I die, these are: To fast three days every month, to offer the Duha prayer, and to offer Witr before sleeping.

Sahih Bukhari

Name suggestions:
- The Race to Jannah
- Reserve Your Place in Jannah
- Destination Jannah

I don't know... just a thought.

Re: Compete With Me!!!

Good ideas from all.

I need atleast 25 people to reply to this thread to get started with the WEBSITE

I want to make a real fancy website for this one. The users would have to update their score card every day. I am thinking about updating thru cell phone too (mobile programming). Let's see.

I need a good name for the domain of the website as well, so keep that in mind.
Like JannahRace.AlMaghribOPQ.org

Before beginning we will have a poll inshAllah from all suggestions to include which items in the competition.

So Spread The Word!!!
