There is no doubt that death ends the delights and pleasure of this life, as the Messenger of Allaah sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa-salaam has told us:

" Increase in your remembrance of the destroyer of pleasures (ie. death). For verily, one who remembers it when enduring the hardships of like, it widens for him (ie. he no longer feels overburdened with the hardships he is experiencing). Whenever one remembers it at times of opulence, it will cause him to feel restricted and burdened (ie. he will not then be too involved with this life and will start to reflect on the serious and heavy matters awaiting him)".

- this was reported by an-Nasaa`ee, at-Tirmidi, Ibn Majaah and others. at-Tirmidhi said it was hasan ghareeb. But, Shaykh Albaani said it was sahih, as there were many witnesses

The pleasures are what prevent a tear to be shed, nor any sadness and grief to be felt by the heart. So increase in your remembrance of death, in an attempt to feel the terrors and horrors that will follow it, out of fear of Allaah. Indeed this is easy for the one whom Allaah wishes to make it easy for.

[Weeping from the Fear of Allaah - by Shaykh Husayn al-'Awaayishah]

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

See they not that they are tried once or twice every year (with different kinds of calamities, disease, famine, etc.)? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it).

Narrated by Ibn ‘ Abbas:
The Prophet (3layhi salaat was salaam) said: “Sometimes one may utter a word without thinking whether it is right or wrong and because of that he may slip down in the Fire as far away as the East is from the West.”

Hadith No. 837 Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira(r.a.) Sahih Bukhari Book 81, Chapter 23

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

The most naïve thing in my eyes is to linger in sin - with no regrets - hoping for a far off pardon and to come closer to Allah without doing anything and to wait for the harvest of Jannah while planting the seeds of hellfire - waiting for reward without performing any deeds.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

And We have indeed made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

Allah's Messenger (3layhi salaat was salaam) said,

"The magnitude of the reward goes along with the magnitude of the affliction. When Allah who is Great and Glorious loves people He afflicts them (so that He may reward the pious who display patience and perseverance in their affliction in their eternal life of the Hereafter)."

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1566 Narrated by Anas ibn Malik

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

Ibn Umar (radhi Allah ta'ala 3nhu.) used to say: “When you survive till the evening do not expect to live until the morning; and when you survive till the morning do not expect to live until the evening. While in good health (do good deeds) before you fall sick; and while you are alive (do good deeds) before death strikes.”

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke about when he said, "Islam began as something strange, and it shall return to being something strange, so give glad tidings to the strangers."
[Reported by Abu Amr al-Dani, from the hadith of ibn Masoud.]

Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah said:
The praiseworthy people are called strangers since they are a small minority among mankind. Thus, Muslims are strangers among mankind; the true believers are strangers among Muslims; and the scholars are strangers among the true believers. And the followers of the Sunnah, those that clear themselves from all peoples of innovation, are likewise strangers.

The strangers in belief, however, and the strangers in character and actions are in reality the majority of mankind, for they are strange to Islam and to the laws that Allah has revealed.

Welcome BANU NOOR

Narrated by 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet (SW) said,
"Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."

Re: Reminders Benefit the Believers

The Prophet (3layhi salaat was salaam) said,

"When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their foot steps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him: 'What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad (SAW)?' He will say: 'I testify that he is Allah's slave and His Apostle.' Then it will be said to him, 'Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.' " The Prophet added, "The dead person will see both his places. But a non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, 'I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, 'Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).' Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns."
