Arrow Area of an-Najd

Bismillaah.

Asssalaamu ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullaah,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the exact location of the area of an-Najd, ie. Which towns/cities it encompasses, please be as specific as you can be. If someone has a map and can post it that would be even better.

Jazaakum Allaahu khayraa,

-TrustinAllaah

Re: Area of an-Najd

There's a difference in the context.

Najd ul Hijaaz
and
Najd ul 'Iraaq

It's kind of sad but I found wikipedia to be comprehensive. The second link shows why the difference is important.

Najd ul Hijaaz

Najd ul 'Iraaq and difference

If you want book refrences let me know insha'aAllah..

Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu

The following is a comprehensive article that clarifies the hadeeth of Najd - its location, those who assert this, the trials and tribulations, and supporting ahadeeth - inshaa'Allah it'll be of benefit:

Hadeeth of Najd

Re: Area of an-Najd

just look at any modern day map of saudia arabia where najd is.

And while you do this, do not be confused because the najd that is in present day saudi arabia is not what is understood by the hufaadh of the religion stretching back to the prophet's time and his companions as their conceptualization of najd was either

1. any elevated land and more specifically
2. Iraaq
aslamau alaikum

Jazaak Allaahu khayraa,

Looking at modern day maps, The area of an-Najd would be Central-east Arabia, compared to Hijaz which is Western Arabia.

Correct me if I'm wrong please. Wa Jazaakum Allaahu khayraa!

Re: Area of an-Najd

Assalaamu 'alaykum wa Rahmatullaah,

Another question: Are Hijaaz and Arabia (or present day Saudi Arabia) synonymous? meaning Hijaaz is sometimes used to refer to Saudi Arabia.

Re: Area of an-Najd

It is used synonymously, but I was wondering if there is any historical significance to it? It's like using Canada and Ontario synonymously.

P.S, just an fyi, the above hadeeth quoted with regards to an-Najd is in Kitaab-il-Fitan (Vol.13 page 54 of Fath-il-Barii: Hadith # 7094) and the Hadith is grouped with two other Ahaadith: 7092 and 7093 (as was mentioned above).
