Smile Afghans at AlMaghrib

As-sallam-o-alikum!

I am not sure if I can put this up on the form so if I can't please feel free to take it off.

Recently I stumbled upon a really horrible YouTube video which I don't like to mention what it was but it really made me realize that the vast majority of Afghan people have deviated from the straight path of Islam.

I just wanted to start this thread to see if there are any Afghans who are part of AlMaghrib or any other Islamic organization just to give myself some hope and to connect with these people and inshallah try to organize some efforts to entice other Afghans to come to the true path of Islam and leave behind the messed up ideas of Islam they already have.

Firstly I wanted to start community programs through school Afghan associations etc to spread the message of Islam and the option they have of gaining more knowledge about Islam. Secondly (inshallah if we could raise enough funds and more importantly find scholars) to go to Afghanistan during summers and start some sort of religious school for children and teenagers. This should be based on the ideas of AlMaghrib and I want to impart knowledge of the deen so that these ppl should follow it out of choice not because they are forced into it.

Inshallah please post something here if there are an Afghan and want to help and give any ideas on efforts we can do NOW. Also for all those who are not Afghan please feel free to add any comments etc and let us know of any tactics you have used with your own communities that seemed to work.

jazakallah-kharun

well this was suppose to be a brainstorm form to see what are the best ways to get Afghan ppl back into the way of islam...I want to generate some ideas and impliment them inshallah and then see if they work...which qabeelah do you belong to because if a few of us are in similar locations then we can help each other hold events and try to get afghan students to attend....so far the best way i've found for dawa to work is by talking to someone one-on-one...they seem to be less defensive then and they listen more. i want to come with some topics which will be the most effective that we can talk to the individuals we know first...like the concept of what does the kalima really mean and the importance of prayer and the characteristics of a muslim and of Allah as wajal...etc...but leave any other ideas you have here...

I Live in Los Angeles and am part of Banu Haqq but am a diehard Qabeelat Nurayn since it was the qabeelat I left.

Anyways I gave a dawah course in San Diego a few weeks ago and some Afgahni's (older brothers) came. They really liked the course ("How to give a shahadah in ten minutes"), ALHAMDULILLAH. Maybe those types of lectures would be something people are interested in.

Afghani's tend to attend events/lectures etc given by other Afghani's i guess it gives us (more so the older people) some pride of sorts, ALLAHU MUSTA'AM.

Re: Afghans at AlMaghrib

As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatAllah,

my sentiments exactly!

The best thing I found.. is to show by having this deen it does NOT mean you're not contributing to soceity, educated, or showing the "back home" version of 'religiosity.'

This is done by actively engaging our 'elders' setting up programs, giving small halaqaat engaging the YOUNG GENERATION!!!!!!, and inviting mashaykh that can speak on OUR level as a generation that grew up in the era of information and 'education.'

The tea parties with elders sitting around a 'distarkhan' drinking tea and going "ah afghanistan yag roz" this or "afghanistan bayad itir shawa" that are over.

Talk is very VERY cheap as i'm sure ALL my afghani bro's and sisters have seen and witnessed, it IS time for action.

-)

I love AlMaghrib.

Yeah that is what Allah 'azza wa jal says in the Qur'an, YAA ayyuhal ladheena aamaanu Qu anfusakum wa AHLIKUM naara..

"Oh You who Believe! Save yourselves and your AHL from the fire.." (At Tahreem).

AHL STARTS with your blood and close family but extends to all of our PEOPLE!

Ya Qawmi, Ya Ahli irjoo illAllah!

One thing that was emphasized by our teachers though, is NOT to get emotionally charged over our 'situation' as this is against the Patience Allah ta'la calls to in Surat Al 'Asr.

Rather As imaam Al Bukhari rahimahullah entitled an entire Chapter
Bab Al 'Ilmi qablal qawli wal 'amal.
The chapter of KNOWLEDGE is BEFORE statements and actions.

We need to gain the proper knowledge FIRST

Otherwise if we start reacting because of all of the fitan we see, we will either be dragged with it, or be destroyed with our ignorance of approaching it.

We develop ourselves, increase the knowledge, the iman it will take to be able to take on this massive problem, fix our situation and Allah will fix those around us.
InnAllaha la yughayyiroo ma bi QAWMIN hatta ma yughayyiroo bi anfusihim.
Verily Allah does not change the state of a NATION until they change what is in themselves!

let's bring out knowledgable du'aat that speak our language, know our culture, know THIS culture, are the epitome of those who stand firm upon the Sunnah of An Nabee salaAllahu 'alaihee wa sallam.. because THEN when we ACT... and give the da'wah full force.. the victory of Allah ta'la is OF COURSE going to be given!

Inna la nasru rusulana WAL LADHEENA aamanoo FIL HAYYAATID DUNYA WA yawma yaqumul Ash-Haad

Verily Allah will give VICTORY to his messengers AND those who believe IN THIS LIFE AND on the day when the witnesses will be brought forth.
-TO WITNESS THE VICTORY IN THIS LIFE AND IN THE NEXT.

Now this is the pivotal question are we going to be PART of the Victory? Are we going to be part of the solution? Or are we going to be part of the problem?

THAT is what knowledge brings. The Victory. The Solution.

The Victory is going to Come
.. it's up to US as is the AlMaghrib Motto.

Do YOU want to

SEIZE IT!?

May Allah make us among those whom He blesses and grants the best and guides through us our families and our people. Ameeeeeen ya rub.

WAllahu 'Alam, Allah Truly Knows Best,

and truly truly, Allahul Musta'an, To Allah ALONE do we Complain...

Yea I totally agree...well I've started by improving myself and telling any information I learn to my family but now I want my efforts to extend to the Afghan community mainly the teens b/c I think they r losing their identity. With older ppl its difficult to change thier views since they have already been molded but with teens and 20s and even 30s its easier to get to them. btw I am totally impressed by your knowledge of our deen...I love that you kept quoting verses from the Quran...alhamdullillah that we have your kind of ppl in our community...all of those who posted and/or are part of religious activity...

I want to send an email to the Afghan student association at my and my sis's university to send it to all their students...and I want ideas...i want it to be catchy and fun...

i was thinking I should sorta copy that stupid visa commericial...u know this $10 that $20 something priceless...because i know all of the so non-religious ppl will think spending $135 for a ticket is nuts...but they spend even more then that on shoes and dresses which they (or should I say we...hehe...although I hope not anymore ) will only wear once...but let me know of any other ideas

thanks to all those who replied...
