Re: Recommendations from Scholars

Masha Allah, i think this is an absolutely great idea.. I hope AlMaghrib HQ (Hafithahum Allah) would look into it... I know many people that strictly stick to the "Know Who You're Getting Your Knowledge From" and just because they are not getting a confirmation they dismiss the seminars... Imagine if we just cleared up the fog for them... this might be just another great opportunity of seeking knowledge for many people...

And say to My slaves that they should (only) say those words that are the best. Verily Shaitân sows disagreements among them. Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is to man a plain enemy. (Al-Isra 17:53)

I know what/who you're talking about Kaltham...but unfortunately I think some problems arise with this...

1. You mention just ONE scholar/student of knowledge that Al Maghrib/instructors are "affiliated" with, that does not have "the correct Manhaj", then it's over...they'll never learn from the instructor or Al Maghrib althogether.

2. This idea could also backfire in the sense from the other end of the "spectrum" where you get the "wahabi" bashing because of mentioning of a specific teacher of the instructors or whatever the case may be.

3. I'm not sure if it's a demeaning(sp?) thing or not but, I'm not sure if the Instructors would like to do that...meaning like showing their long lists of Ijaaza's and and credentials, etc. (I KNOW they got them too). I mean masha'Allah it's a beautiful thing, but why do they have to prove this to people. Should it not be obvious that they are upright Muslims upon the Deen. Some brothers from the Masjid even went as far as calling Medina Univ. as well as other students of knowledge to "check" on them! Allah'hu'alam

I've talked to um..(student of knowledge name goes here)...about this situation and he basically told me to leave these people alone (the ones who are under the "better safe than sorry and keep to my bubble" theory of who to take knowledge from).

I didn't ask any further questions about WHY to leave them alone...but I got the feeling that it might be wasted energy.

Believe me Kaltham I've been trying HARD to get these brothers over to Al Maghib but it is very difficult.

However, I DO support and AGREE WITH very much to have these Instructors meet with the Imams of the community...especially the ones of the "better safe than sorry" ones? I definetely think it would be better/easier if they would directly talk to them than us being the middle-man and trying to convey that these instructors know what they're talkin about and are way knowledgeable compared to the Da'ees that some people out here listen to.

Shaikh Yaser...if you're reading this we can set up a meeting such as this if you'd like for Code of Scholars in Columbus, Ohio hint hint wink wink

Sorry for this long post...and this is just my opinion from experience (and I'm really a nobody haha)

May Allah protect us from this fitna.

‘A’ishah radi Allahu anha narrated:

“Once, when I saw the Prophet in a good mood, I said to him: “O Messenger of Allah! Supplicate to Allah for me!”

So, he said: “O Allah! Forgive ‘A’ishah her past and future sins, what she has hidden, as well as what she has made apparent.”

So, I began smiling, to the point that my head fell into the lap of the Messenger of Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam out of joy.

The Messenger of Allah said to me: “Does my supplication make you happy?”

I replied: “And how can your supplication not make me happy?”

He then said: “By Allah, it is the supplication that I make for my Ummah in every prayer.”
[Reported in 'Sahih Mawarid adh-Dhaman' (1875), and it is in 'as-Silsilah as-Sahihah' (2254)]
