Surat Al-Baqarah Online...

Assalaamu`alaykum wa Rahmat Allaahi wa Barakatuhu

On my way back from work, while listening to a recitation of Surat Al-Baqarah by Salaah Bukhaatir, I was thinking, "Shouldn't all of Thabt be able to listen with me?"

I think this is a great opportunity, because I happen to have several recitations of Surat Al-Baqarah. If it is okay with Br. Muhammad and our Ameer, I could go ahead and put up some recitations on the EmanRush server for streaming, broken up into several pieces so you don't have to listen to whole thing just to get to one part.

If it's okay, then let me know which reciters you like best:

Muhammad Siddeeq Al-Minshaawee
Abu Bakr Ash-Shaatree
Mishaaree Raashid Al-`Afaasee
Muhammad Ayyoob (I think I have Al-Baqarah...)
Salaah Bukhaatir (this may take some more time...)

Just let me know which you prefer, and I'll try and break that one up, and we can have a sample from Al-Baqarah to listen to, in shaa Allaah (pending approval).

I have heard that `ajamee's recitation is not very good with tajweed, so I just avoid it for safety. Amongst those that I mentioned, I believe their recitation is considered good....

really? subhan'Allah... He's always been my favorite reciter..like i listen to ghamdi, and shateri sometimes, also 3afasi...but ajamy's my favorite. Minshawi is another one i really like b/c it makes me feel like i'm in egypt. They always had him on on the Quran radio station...

I'm not trying to make a big deal about it...I only mentioned it because I had heard criticism from multiple sources, so I just avoid it...

Keep in mind, many of these recitations were recorded from taraweeh, and so the reciter may have more mistakes than normal because they weren't sitting in a studio, like other reciters may have been.

I didn't intend it to be an insult or derogatory whatsoever to Sh. `Ajamee. I'm just more concerned that we have the best recitations available to Thabt...

Great idea, however, if it doesn't work out to put it on emanrush remeber there a lot of sites on web that have Qur'an that can be downloaded or listened to online and are easy to find by just typing Qur'an recitation into the search engine. Many of them are specifically chosen for tajweed.
